Pete, that's a nice e46 and a good price. I think Justin's e36m had miles about that high when he got it. I don't know wha motors for those would cost but I would venture a guess that finding a used stock motor would probably cost close to what Chu rebuilt his entire Evo motor for (not that I know that number either but I can guess a ballpark).

My goal is to get a cheaper rwd track car in a few years. I've thought about old BMW's or a basket case cheap Miata (I imagine their motors are cheap to acquire or I could pony up and do an LSx swap if money were right).

There was a 95 e36M that was a sandy flood car I was watching. They claimed it wouldnt start, but offered no other real details. It sold for $2k.

I really want to buy something cheap and do all the work to it for the experience. I even contemplated rebuilding the entire corolla when the motor is done. I can get a fully rebuilt motor for $1500. With my choices for cheap DD in the market, I'd almost prefer keeping what I have and knowing it wasn't neglected for years by who ever.

If I was going back to rwd platform, I'd go 240 Essex route. Cheap, reliable, plenty of used parts, easier to swap LS, mad JDM creds.

The dude you instructed last year at CTD with the black Evo now has an ap1 s2k. I'm tried to get him to sign up this year but his woman won't let him spend any money.

I only get Monday and Tuesday (24th and 25th) off. Other lucky folks probably have the whole week off until the new year.
