Can't you get a used fs-r for a couple grand more. I would seriously consider a used one in the future when the price drop significantly.

One of my friends have been talking to me about buying a new car for the same price range. Been shooting me random stuff; the worst being an 05 Audi A6 with 80k. For some reason, this fool is against financing. I think putting down a large some of money on a car is stupid for liquidity purpose. In any case, I'd be getting stupid stupidly cheap and easy to work on, or finance something reliable. I'm all about getting a 335D now if the truck doesn't happen.
So does that mean that you wouldn't consider buying a 996 911 in the price range with less than 50k miles?

I'm all about stupidly stupid cheap and easy to maintain. The corolla is just that and it's god damn reliable. Part of still is searching for a cool *** daily driver that I could some how work in some practicality too.

(This whole conversation started yesterday with Josh. A 911 has just about as much back seat room and cargo room as his genesis coupe. Both are rwd and make around the same power. He got out of mini because he had trouble getting the kids in and out. I wonder how much of an improvement the genesis is.)

For a daily driver, absolutely not. The price doesn't justify insurance, maintenance, and usefulness.

My buddy had a Cayenne, once it started to give him a few problems he launched it... Just way too expensive to be fixing. You're going to have the same issue with a 911. I think both are a bad idea, myself. Its your money though.

Foren, what motor did you end up going with, a MAP 2.4?

I'm wondering if upkeep would be the deal breaker. With low mileage, it should only need oil changes and brakes/tires for a few years. Anybody ever change the oil on a 911?

I think you answered your own question. 996 + cheap + easy to maintain + daily driver do not belong in the same thought stream. Though if you can find a 996 C4 then, maybe...cause you can drive those in the snow--I saw it on a billboard, so it must be true.

I assume you want a back seat to put midgets in? If not a C6 or S2K are teh easy solutions to fun, semi-practical sports cars as daily drivers. If you need a back seat to keep little tax write offs in, then E92 330 or 335.
