PCD: 2013-2014 Till We Break It Edition
Tim, your top speed showed 51 mph, its probably off a little if you're using internal 1hz GPS sensor, but my top speed on the first run was 63 mph, even though you got faster time. Comparing the two video, you have higher cornering speed. I guess them r1r are still working pretty good even though they won't pass inspection

But if you're saying it could be off as much as 10mph, then there is probably a slight day.
I also need to check and see where the speed is coming from...the GPS or the OBD. I know it uses the speed and rpm from the OBD to calculate the gear, but not sure if that's the same speed shown.
I'm still somewhat of a noob with the software, so I'll see if I can improve on anything for next time. Once I figure out where I'm at and what might be lacking, then I may add other external sensors and cameras.
Lot of fast cars out there on Saturday, r-comps and pros came out. A chick in novice class ran over the finish line sensors, that was awesome. Looked like she exploded it. But apparently it didn't die. Everything that could go wrong went wrong or was designed to. Workers not ready on first heat, 20 minute wait at first heat start, second heat gets anther course walk before they start and before first heat people start working (wtf?). All in all makes me really appreciate Philly Region.
I am just using internal GPS. This is one of my first tries using the iphone5 for recording. Since it has a faster processor, I was hoping it would refresh a bit faster than prior gen iphones.

by the refresh rate of your speedo, i would say it's sampling speed data from obd2.
i'm saying i'm 14mph faster than chu cause of my mad late apex skillz son, but my tires can't hang in the turns
I don't know my speed...don't look at odo when autox'ing, but I bounce on the limiter twice during each run, expecially the last slalom section. You can hear it in the video Chau posted.
was the girl in a red e30?
if its the same girl she was very new to autox and even driving a 5 speed. she was stalling over and over again trying to get the car moving before her first run
Thai for a guy who never autox's you sure know alot about your regions autox...
Evo's with stock valve train and stock gearing in 5 speed trans top out at 62-63 mph.
Funny hearing these stories about this region. They do not want Philly region on their sites BTW. Unfortunately SCCA bylaws state that if a site is in a regions territory they have complete control. Basically Philly is not aloud to use their sites for our events unless they give permission to do so. Also from what I understand this region does not want to partner with Philly hosting an event. Shame, we have good equipment, lots of capable people to run an event, between the 2 regions we could eliminate all those problems and have a massive event that is profitable for both regions.
I think if they have 100 plus drivers it makes absolutely no sense to use the same truck people the entire day. Philly changes those workers each heat for a reason, cause it is a draining job sometimes. I know our truck is air conditioning and they work in comfort, but sometimes the radios get crazy in the truck. I have worked inside trucked a few times with our region and also at National events. Even at Nationals where they have a PAID staff the truck workers are switched out heat to heat. To be clear the PAID staff organizes the event but uses the local hosting region to staff everything and also uses the competitors.

Chu I watched your video and I have to tell you, I hate that angle for breaking down videos. It is really hard to judge exactly where you have the car, plus depth perception is skewed from that angle. Personally for video I like on top of roof (center) view, gives you a nice view of course and the front of car. So its cool that you slapped these fools around, but I have no idea if you drove well or not. I need to watch the other videos and I am going to offer my critique of the driving..

our region does have internal drama but not as bad as some other regions that i've gone to, you should see the emails going back and forth between officials, **** got crazy personal.
one of the reason why they keep the same people in timing truck is because it a job that requires some skills and practice, it's not a mindless job like chasing down cones or gridding cars. i've worked in the truck before and it does gets crazy in there with all the radio traffic.

probably pissed cause those bikers took up both lanes. i hate when they ride in pack like that, like they ownz the road. i was sitting at a toll line one time and literally 100 crotch rocket pulled up and squeeze between the lines of cars to cut up front. i was gonna open the car door while they where squeezing through, but they looked mad gangsta and probably kicked my ***.
