Yeah, that is terrible. Read about it yesterday. My brother does this kind of thing for USAF...he is a load master and boom operator on a KC10. He was telling me that these civilian cargo transports do not have an on-flight load master supervise and do calculations and rigging for loads and this load was not properly secured, came loose and shifted to the aft of the plane causing the nose to pitch up...induced a stall at 1200'...there was really nothing the crew could do...all seven on board died.

Makes me glad that my brother is as smart as he is and has a touch of the OCD to keep him doing a thorough job.

That's some crazy ****. Wonder if they would have survived the crash if there wasn't a fire.

^Even without the fireball, I don't think the cockpit would stand up to the laws of physics in that scenario.

I doubt it....one of you engineer types can do the maths: Fully loaded Boening 747-400 (900,000lbs... or 400,000lbs if empty) falling from 1200'...what are the g-forces at impact?

From the video, didn't look like the impact was that high speed. It was pitched up and probable still on full power. Just not enough thrust to go vertical. I fly rc plane and know how important center of gravity is. I have battery shifted all the way back and the plane would pitch up and i could basically hover it, but a cargo plane wouldnt have the power to weight ratio as an rc plane.

I just mean ive seen video where planes or people hit the ground at faster speed and survived.
