no harm done, but I do have an update. GI Joes has agreed to be one of the title sponsors for the remaining pre-season events, and all of next season.
The next event is November 27th. qualifications start this Friday and Saturday evenings at the Beaverton Starbucks (24hr one, right next to Fred Meyer). Guys (and gals) if you love to drive, and want to take a chance at winning some money and sponsorship for your love, check this out. It's free to qualify, come down, ask questions, see what it's about. We need to get people involved in this as a safe alternative to street racing

while I think this is a great idea and a worthwhile cause, I just want to post my 2 cents about something. This cant be a viable alternative to street racing. characteristicaly, streets racers in this area are young and without easily expendable funds. The price is unrealistic to anyone but those sponsors, with a lot of money to burn or old guys with nothing better to do with thier money. The average racer doesnt fit in. I think while its a good step, there needs to be something more accessable and affordable. sorry for the rant and hijack, just wanted to spout off.

doh, shoulda corrected that again. I keep finding information. If you get in before the real season, you will be locked in at $75 per event, everyone who competes is on a team, who has sponsors. The sponsor will be responsible for footing the difference from 75 to 250. And the more sponsors you get for your team, the less youmight have to pay, but really, I don't think $75 is that bad for a chance to win $750 + . As of the last discussion of the season championship, the prize for the team (driver + navigator team) was going to be $2000, and if you have enough points to win there, you've obviously already won a few events along the way. I'd say just come down to the qualifications, maybe run the course, talk with Max, see exactly what it's about, and ask him as many questions as you can think of.

cool man, and if you know anyone that would want to navigate for me, my navigator bailed out the other night, his boss is moving him to working on the weekends, sucks, but I'll probly be able to find someone
You mean This Friday and Sat? I can do Friday! In my Geo metro!!! Hehehe
Seriously though, tell me everything I need to know and I'll be there. I need better directions than the 24hr Starbucks in Beaverton. I don't know which one that is. I'm not kidding about the Geo though.
Behold! The awesome power of a courier in a crap car!
I'm such a freakin dork.....

ok, Friday, 6:00 - whenever, Starbucks in Beaverton Town Square (close to it anyway. you'll see the cars). I won't be dow there then, but I will be down on Saturday after we make our run to the beach with WSB. Where would you be coming from? I can give directions if you let me know, cause I don't know the actuall address of the place. You'll need to find a navigator though, if you could run on Sat. I could navigate in the qualification for you, just not the even if you decide to run it.
What is WSB?
I can't do saturday. It's my last night here and my roomies and I are having a casual dinner party of sorts at our place. Wanna come over for wine and pasta? I wont be sober saturday night.
Fridays usually require that i work late. So I probably wont get over there in time, but I'll swing by anyways to see if there is anything to see as soon as I get off. I don't need directions. It's just that there are quite a few Starbucks's in Beaverton and I needed to know which one. I don't have a navigator. I'm moving 200 miles south on sunday anyways so I wouldnt be able to do anything. I just wanna check it out and see the cars.
Thanks for the offer though! It takes a strong character to offer to ride shotgun with a girl in a Geo while swimming in a sea of nice cars. You've gotta be a pretty damned cool person to do that.
What is the 45 second rule?

I emailed HMS and told them I drive a Geo and got this in response:
"Well, RallySport is about driving skill, intelligence and appearances. It's for the "Fast and Furious" crowd primarily. Each person is placed on a team. You must be accepted by the Team Captain with a RallySport Agent's recommendation. You qualification score in considered as well. Unfortunately, I would not be able to get your car placed on a team because none of the Captain's would accept it.
We are not doing anything this Friday. Last Friday we had a Rollout event for qualified members and it went well. Rollout events are for members only and are 100% secret and exclusive. If you have someone with a better car we may be able to put you in touch with a Agent and schedule you for qualification. "

It sounds like a secret society. twardozrally is probably going to get a gang beat down now for leaking secert info
.
If they won't allow your Geo then they are making too much money.

that's weird. When I first talked to Max he said any car could compete, that the point was you didn't have to have a fast car or a nice car to compete. And also it's weird he says nothing's going on Friday, I talked with my agent and he told me to make sure I was down there both days. Huh... I think i'll call him again.

45 second rule needs to suck on the "shining monkey's" nuts
^lol, agent = guy that works as a liason between teams and sponsors, also a point of contact for information
