Tires.....

On Monday, I happened to run over a phillips head screw driver minus the handle, as it seems.... And of course, Les Schwab cannot repair the tire. So, I had to buy a new one..... Les Schwab wanted $363 for 1 Yokohama Advan tire for the Evo. So, I thought that I would call around and Discount Tire wanted $275 for the same tire. Can you guess where I went to order it?!?! It took about 4 days, so I had to roll in the Evo with the Donut for about a week. So, I guess that the moral of the story is not to go to Les Schwab because they will rip you off. Thought that I would share that with everyone.

A new stock Advan tire from Tire Rack is only $218.

I'm really surprised they didn't make you replace all 4 tires. Since the EVO is AWD, if the diameters of the tires are different it could cause a problem with the diff or tranny, at least that is what I've been told. When I sold my S4 I had to buy a whole set of tires because the two slightly used ones would not match 2 new ones. Anyway, good luck.

Only about 6k as far as miles go. IF more than 3/32nds is used, then I would have to get all 4 tires. I lucked out and only about 1/32nds or 2/32nds were used.

Wow, I must be driving my car like a real wussy. I am a little over 9000 miles and the tires look almost new, well not quite like that, but still plenty of miles left!!! I thought i should have burnt a good portion off on the run we all had in oregon months back.

maybe its just because my alignment was off from the beggining, the insides of all the tires are worn pretty badly, but the outsides arent much better. i am just waiting to get my alignment done as i have ordered springs, wheels, and tires, and want them all on, and then to align it one time. i cant believe that you guys are getting that many miles out of them. mine are bad enough that the mechanic that was changing the oil at the dealer said something about it.

I don't know how you guys drive. But I have had my car almost a year with 11,000 miles and it looks like I can go another year on them . Works for me though .

In the future I would suggest getting a better price. If you would have shown Discount Tire the Tire Rack's price they would have matched it (adding in shipping). Also, Sears has a price match - 10%. They will sell you any tire for 90% of their competitor's price. You might also look to Matrix Engineering in Portland, they may still match TireRack prices.

I actually ended up paying $98.00 because originally, Discount Tire thought that Yokohama would cover it under their warranty, but it wasn't. The warranty does not cover road hazard, only manufacturer defect. Yokohama basically told Discount Tire to stick it up their a$$. So, Discount Tire ended up honoring the $98.00 and that is what I paid. So, I guess that I won this one time, eh?
