How is Al going to do road testing around there? With the 19*10^43 other cars on the road? There is a stoplight approximately every 18 inches.

Seriously, though, someone familiar with Redmond can chime in. I just know that when I was up there, he'd have to do the road testing at 3AM to have any chance of going above 30mph.

would someone mind getting ahold of Fame and see if there is a way that we can dyno our cars after the tune so we have some clue to what kind of power we are making. I guess what I really mean is, can someone get us a group price so the dynotime wouldnt cost so much.

FWIW, the last group dyno at FAME was roughly $125 per car. But that was for about an hour of time during tuning. If Al instead does a road tune, then a quick on-then-off the dyno for simply getting a chart, perhaps it could be more affordable. It would of course depend upon the number of cars.

I may be wrong, but thought it was roughly $800/day for the dyno. Spread that across as many cars as possible.

I am thinking a quick on-of session of the dyno to get some numbers, maybe 3-4 pulls each. I like the idea of a road tune versus the dyno tune, but still want some numbers off the dyno. I dont know!! Any opinions??

Well, I am an ignorant SOB, but I like the idea of a dyno tune, followed by a road tune to make sure everything is satisfactory. That way I can do before/after charts and quantify the benefits of the tune.

But Al obviously knows what he is doing so if he says road tune instead, that is likely better.

I live in Redmond and can attest to the stooplights every 18 inches. The road tune around Redmond certainly is not practical, and I had brought up FAME because originally I though the tunes were done on a dyno. This being the case, we can road tune the cars anywhere, and then jump on the dyno later for HP measurements, etc.

I talked with the manager at FAME auto (Brandon) and told him about our situation. They have an EFI training class on November 12th, and the dyno would not be available. They maybe able, however, to schedule us in on Sunday the 13th. I know some of you folks are coming from Oregon, so I am not sure how you all feel about that. The dyno rate (group rate, non tune) would be $150/hr and you can typically get in 4/5 pulls.

Let me know what you all think. The road tune does not make sense for Redmond - I talked with the Garret World One Performance (www.worldoneperformance.com) in West Seattle, and he is going to chime in on this thread about meeting up at his shop to do the tunes. For you locals, it is W. Marginal way, and it is absolutely perfect for doing road tunes. Garret is a great guy with a great shop - he does his road tunes on that road also.

I am not down for 150 for dyno time, but thats just me. However, I am still willing to get the road tune done pretty much anywhere and dyno later on.

I dyno'd at Torquefreaks in portland and got about 5 pulls for $75 w/ AF graph (tailpipe sniffer though.). They seem like a good shop to deal with when I was there.

As far as the road tune, i dont know the area that well to determine that.

just my .01

Hi there...

I would be happy to offer up our facility for this for you guys. We have a huge parking lot and west marginal way is quite possibly one of the best places in the city to do road tunes as long as your not doing them at high noon on a weekday. Any other time is perfect and especially on the weekends. Traffic violations on that road almost never happen on our street and although the speed limit is posted at 45mph, its a nice four lane road with a turn lane that is mostly straight except for a few bends.

There is very quick access to highways and freeway for higher speed runs. Our parking lot is quite large and there is plenty of room for everyone to park. We would definately be willing to bust out the BBQ, and make an event of it for everyone, and hopefully the weather will be nice.

The obvious draw back of our place is that we have no dyno and there is no convienent dyno close by (fame is still the closest) If you have questions about our place or if there is anything else we can do for you please let me know. Here are some quick pics of our facility:

Thanks for the offer Garrett, I agree that the road and space available at your shop in West Seattle is abcolutely perfect for this. The BBQ is a plus too!

I don't think $150/hr is outrageous, but I am sure you can shop around and find a better price for the dyno time.

We can hold off on the dyno, and focus on getting enough guys to put in their deposits so Al can book his flight and we can do the road tuning at World One Performance.
