I keep seeing this blue 8-9 northbound on my mornings into JBER, around Peters Creek area. Ideas?

Anyone know of someone in need of 20" tires? Have a brand new set I'm selling. Decided to upgrade to 22's.

What snow tires would you guys recommend for me? I was leaning toward the bridgestone blizzaks. I have heard nothing but good things about them so far. My current roommate is originally from Wisconsin and he was telling me that they hook up in snow extremely well. And my other buddy is from there and moving up there with me, he said the same thing about them.

And also, are there some good shops to go to up there for tuning, etc.?

First, Welcome pre-emptively, to the 'country' of Alaska :P

2: Blizzaks are phenomenal snow tires, I prefer those (even non-studded) over any other winter tire. Have had them on everything of mine from Subarus, f-150's, and have my set for my EVO. Pricey, but you can't put on a price on safety. your best bet is probably buting from DTD or Tirerack before you come up, as you can get free shipping in WA still, you can't up here and they'll run you $75+ more here.

Lastly: we have 3 shops around the Anchorage area I know of. Element Automotive, Underground Performance (both in Anchorage), and Seth at P3 Import Autowerks in Wasilla. All 3 great shops, with great service at all. Preference would be yours, I use Seth because I live out there.

Caveat, also look at winterizing your car before the trip or shortly after. Block heaters, battery blankets, etc... aren't really needed in the Wasilla/Anchorage area, but if you plan on traveling north at all in the winter (-40 or colder in Fairbanks on average Dec-Feb) then you might want to. You're going to want to at least change out the coolant and possibly the oil based on what you're running now and the temps you normal drive in. The EvoM forum seems to be hit or miss with people on here, but I know a few on here hit up the Subaru forum here: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=72 for local stuff like AutoX etc... As I said though, Welcome aboard.

Thanks! I am probably going to pick up a set of the blizzaks regardless of price. My dad still works at bridgestone back home so he will probably be able to hook me up with a little bit of a discount. I will be living in the Anchorage area when I get there. I have to be there by November at the latest so I should be headed that way around mid-late Octoberish?

I will definitely have to check out those shops after I get there. It will be a while before I need tuning or anything up there but I would like to have a go to place once I do need it.

Just keep in mind that due to the weather change, you might need a tune adjustment to prevent overboost from the cold, depending on what you're running right now and how much saefty margin you have.
