All I'm really looking for is a good safe tune that I can run on the track for 30 min at a time, not really into all out HP....I know that if I had a race program setup I'd never want to drive on pump gas. Maybe for $hits and giggles I'll play around some more before the dyno day on some good gas.
Both of my maps are pretty conservative. My pump gas map tapers down to 10.7:1 and my race gas map tapers down to 11.2:1. Becareful w/ race gas. It can be very addicting. My car gains 80whp @28psi on 100oct over my 92oct map.

A tip on starting out your race gas map:

Zero out your fuel and timing maps. Then start taking out fuel, but don't touch the timing map. You'll be getting alot more timing when you start pulling out fuel. You probably all ready know this .

If you are going to keep the XEDE, you should really step up to SMART. It makes tuning so easy it shouldn't be legal. My Wife has been doing the datalogging and tuning of my car now. I just drive and answer Q's.

Thanks for the tip. I'm planning on doing a roadtrip to Cali soon, will probably have Shiv install the smart system and tune it down there.

Kyle....NO NO NO....don't let Shiv tune the car....Things have happened and I'd hate to have your car turn into a money pit(more than it is now ;-)....ask Eric, dude that has lots of money, very wide tires, all kinds of engine work. Can't remember his last name, but he was at the Mt Mits BBQ this past year. Shiv tunned it and then ran it and then blew a rod on his car. He claimed Eric had a faulty/lemon engine.....and the story goes on.

James, with 8 or 9 ppl you should easily get the price down to $50...I think last time we did it with 6 or 7 cars and I got it for $50 a piece.

And lastly....fella's don't be disappointed on numbers, because it will happen with a dyno pack. Remember numbers mean nothing really, E.T. times and driving will give you a little more than dyno numbers. They are really only good if you dyno'd before with out certain mods and than dyno'd again with new parts to see what kind of gain they will give you.
Plus those guys at Axium didn't run the cars all the way though the pwr band....stopped short of 7 grand. Our cars can make pwr slightly past that.

Well anyway that's the last of my pocket change -
I'll pass by to be a spectator and cheer you guys on.

Ciao!
Joey

Shiv did not blow up his motor. I have talk to Eric and Shiv about this and I can not believe Eric would think that. Eric definitely had a defect in his motor (The motor let go at a low 3800rpm). It just happen to let go when it was on the dyno. It would of happen to any tuner that touched it. I felt sorry for Eric since he got scammed by RnR and had his motor let go. He's a great guy that has had some bad luck w/ his super nice car.

Spreading info like this is stupid. I have done alot crazier things w/ my XEDE that were completely stupid w/ out blowing my motor up (and I am making alot more power then Eric). The factory ECU always pulls timing like a **** when detenation happens. Its hard to blow up a stock ECU car unless its tuned so bad that their is continous detenation.

Just remember, their are people w/ stock cars that spin a bearing or throw a rod. Its just the luck of the draw.

I think I have been in both worlds, here in Tucson Apexmotorsports Dynos your car for just over $40(at least 3-4 pulls). If you go to Dyno-comp i phoenix they handle you a good supository bill of $180.. it is your choice guys!!

Just run meth injection make all the power all the time.

That's what I'll be doing, with a switch wired in on the dash to activate the system and switch maps in the AEM between straight pump and pump/meth. I don't feel the need to run +25lbs of boost on my daily commute.

Let's just not go there, I don't want another 10 page thread of BS, stupid opinions, and flame wars to sift through.

You got to be kidding me. I drove all the way down to let shiv tune my car
And I love it. Worth every penny. And I'll prove it on the dyno saturday. How are you going to talk bad about Shiv when you have no first hand experience with him. I do, and Shiv's tuning is worth it.

Also, if you want them to run past 7 grand just ask them. I've known the owner for almost 7 years and kyle's awesome. On a dyna pack expect a lot more whp then you would on a mustang or dd, I think they even read higher then a dynojet.

Evogod, you have dynaflash by al correct? I can't wait to see your #s. I have Shiv's reflash and you have Al's. I'm very interested to see how our cars stack up on the same dyno, same day. =)

Road vs. Dyno tuning, my .01 worth

Changing the powerband via cam gears should have power changes monitored on the dyno.

Tuning on pumpgas you will pick up knock before reaching MBT and overadvancing timing, so a dyno is not needed. You definetly don't need the dyno to log AFRs. Tuning on the street there is no doubt you are getting real world load on the engine and boost is accurate.
Now as for which tuner you want to go with, no comment I just don't want to get into that argument.
