hard shifting in washington?

hi guys, i had a questions for you washington evo owners, well i've noticed that in the morning when my car is cold i have a hard time shifting into gears, mainly 1st and second, it's almost like hitting a wall, and now also while driving if i'm pushing the car, and try to shift around red line, it's like hitting a wall when going to the next gear. The explanation i got from a dealership is that it's the transmission oil that we use, being the weight of the oil, and that it takes more time to warm up in the cold weather we're having, i understand that a little bit, but fifteen minutes into driving the vehicle, pretty much every oil in a car should be warmed up by then and i shouldn't be experiencing anything abnormal but i still do, does anyone else have this same issue in teh cold beather.

I typically need to drive for 15 minutes or more for the tranny to feel good. You might also want to take out your clutch restrictor, fast shifts will not be an issue then.

Ya I do have that problem in the morning after I start the car I let it warm up before I drive it but the first couple of shifts it seams stiff. I figured it was the car still had to warm up some. Might just have to stir up the oil though.

I noticed it on the cooler mornings in San Diego, and much more here in SeaTac (because its cooler). My 42k mile fluid change helped smooth it out a bit (ya, the dealership didn't do a complete fluid change at my 30k mile mark.) Proper operating temperature is the key. In the morning when the joints are stiff, I try to loosen it up by running through the known sticky gears with the clutch disengaged, like, so I don't go anywhere. Just to exercise the gates under a no load condition. Good? Bad? It helps. When hot, though, sometimes it sticks. Don't know if its because it cooled off a bit while I nipped into the store or me shifting faster than I know better not to. <-- funky English
