car show

Went to the car show and here is the close future evo relative. Eclipse concept that Manuf representative said to be made in 2008 as a 09 model.
its AWD Eclipse with 4g63mivec engine and lots of other goodies.

CarbonFiber wheels are the shiitssss.

Evo X body were quite dissapointing (based on the new lancer shape)

I thought Mitsubishi stated that it was retiring the 4G63T motors...is it only retired for the evos?

No cause the new Evo is going to be running the 4B11T.

Plus Mitsu floated around a similiar car around last year on the Euro circuit...the ralliart eclipse concept...we'll see if it ever actually makes it out there and sells (even though there are rumours they will want to put it against the regular WRX.).

I also believe the other differentiation was that while it may have similiar power output, stock it won't have the same "group N" suspension. ACD etc. etc.

So it won't handle as well. Its also a different market. This is for the "hmm I want to go fast and have an interior and some bling". The evo will always be "I just want to go fast...screw the interior"

My opinion is...and I'm always right except when I'm wrong...is that a production version of the Ralliart Eclipse will never see the light of day in anything close to that configuration...

^I agree. I can't ever see that thing hitting the market like that. Too close to the evos.

I could. They would be marketing differently and every one is saying they will be too close..but they won't be.

1) They don't share the same engine
2) They won't share the same suspension work
3) I doubt the eclipse is going to have any kind of real active center differential
4) They will be marketed differently and priced as such

Mitsubishi has said they want something to go against the regular WRX and this could do it. The same way the regular WRX and the WRX STi co-exist this is how I see these two living together.

Evo IX targetted STi and similar (35k)

Evo X now targetting BMW M3 and higher (50K+)

4th Gen Eclipse with IX drivetrain closer to the STi, offers a 2 door to the STi 4 door (believe it or not alot of people dont like having 4 door sportkillers...raises hand)

Pretty much 100% improved aerodynamics makes cruise mileage better

Mitsu needs to have parts infrastructure in place for at least 5 years after the final production of the IX to abide by US blue laws (Manufacturer has 5 years to make sure there is an aftermarket source available for parts).
