Tactrix cable and e-flash

I recently installed an exhaust on my car and it seems I will need to get it reflashed. I have heard nothin but good things about Jestr Tuning, so I will probably just get their base e-flash. I think it is $52 or something like that. I have a couple questions/requests:

1. I have an XEDE right now. I bought the car with the XEDE in it. Is taking the unit out much of a task? Has anyone ever done this?

2. I do not have a tactrix cable. I really don't want to spend the $75 on one either since I will probably only get this one flash. Is there anyone in the Portland area that has a cable that would be willing to assist me in uploading a map to my ECU? I could buy you some of your favorite beer or something.

Thanks

ditch the xede and go with a flash. xede is pretty easy to remove. should just have to remove the glovebox and there it is. a couple of wires to re-wire and you're done...

I got a cable and laptop if you need assistance. The process is pretty painless.

Ok thanks, it is appreciated. Are you located in the Portland area? After I posted I read over the Jestr website and it says you have to send them your original flash image. If this is absolutely necessary I will probably just have to purchase a cable. We will see..

you should just download ecuflash and get the cable, it comes in handy all the time....are you really only planning on doing an exhaust and never doing another mod? cuz otherwise you will need more flashes in the future

Yeah,I'm in Tigard actually. Plus it only takes like 10 seconds to download your base flash from your car. You'd think they would all be the same, though. Oh well. PM me if you want to meet up.

As of right now I don't plan on doing anymore modding. I just closed on my first house so the mortgage payments will be taking up my EVO money. However, I understand your point. I may have to get the cable anyway, but if I don't then I would rather save a few bones.

The tactrix cable is a great investment. With another free software courtesy of MalibuJack, you can use your laptop as an OBDII scanner in case that wretched service engine soon light ever comes on. You can also do datalogs to ensure everything on your car is working optimally. It's a good investment.
