I completely apologize, dates were conflicting for the PIR HPDE, and cascade corrected them, I thought you guys were talking about that. I really am sorry.

No worries Migs.
We had a great time at the track in Bremmerton Motorsports Park yesterday. Very ideal track for newbies like myself.
In our novice PDX group, there were 2 evos (including mine), an MG, a Mazda RX-8, and a 1967 Mustang cobra with 480HP with brakes and suspension built for AutoX. Our Evos kicked ***, but the Mustang was definitely in a different category, LOL!

Too bad it's towards the end of the season, cause I want to go again!

That's the exact reason I waited till the end of the season!! I can't afford to go too often... $170 a pop at PIR is nutso. Not to mention getting insurance, services, etc.

Ditto on everything Thrilla said

no worries migs I should have pointed out in my last post I'm not mad or anything it just threw me off

Damn it Thrilla wish we could go hit a track or parking lot this weekend.... something. it was incredible.... that mustang was nuts though i think when we get some experience under our belts we could eat it in the corners.

I really need a new shift knob, I can't stand the one I have (not stock). its awkward and I end up missing gears. I'd love to find someone selling a stock evo x 5 speed shift knob as well as that awesome ebrake Thrilla has

Yeah Pete, we just need more seat time to really let the car loose! Mabe some autox next?
Lol on the brake, it's the stock faux carbon fiber in the MR.

Migs, I have the girodisc brake lines too, easy to install and fits great! Wish I could run at PIR too, but maybe next season.

I'm down with that...I'm assume you're deployed right now and will be back then

John, not sure where to go next from here. I know i would like to take a drift course (not sure whats out there), the 2 day course at pacific, and the 3 day dirtfish rally course at some point. (maybe even hit the east coast to take some rally at O'Neil http://www.teamoneil.com/) lets both keep our eyes open for something local like an autocross, drift class, or whatever. Thinking about joining scca but need to look more into how its structured events etc... I think i saw they have a drift club that might be interesting. I think my end goal is to be able to drive like Pastrana or Block and race rally (not with this car though, maybe a salvage).

I keep saying I/someone needs to do a car version of Dyrdek's safe spot skate spot... if only i were rich.

drocksmash that would be awesome. I'm actually talking about the evo x stock shifter but the leather stock for my car is way better than what i currently have.

if you lived closer I'd come over and help.... I was told at the PDX that my brake pads must be racing pads because it seems they need to heat up first. the chief driving instructor told me to get carbotech brakes... just not sure which ones yet but I will prob upgrade the lines to braided steel when I replace the pads

Hey John, Is your stereo the Kenwood DNX9960? I'm looking to get one and install it but was wondering how you relocated your climate controls and hacked a double din hole in your dash. I figure I can install it myself and run the lines to the trunk then figure out the sub/amp install. My major worry with the single din dvd is that it has a seperate brain unit thats not fun to hide. looks like with the double din the "brain", gps, and bluetooth are integrated into the head unit which makes me feel alot better about doing the install myself.

Close, it's a DNX 8860(?). Previous year model before the DNX9series.

Follow the instructions on this link. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...n-display.html

I'd recommend buying a used climate control panel for trial and error, LOL!

Also, for brakes call the guys at Girodisc or MAPerformance. They'll answer all your questions. I have Girodisc brake lines and the Magic Pads. Although I won't use the Magic Pads for anything more than street use. I recently switched to Racing Brake ET700, it's capable of street and light track use. They're quiet and don't dust with street use.

Thanks man... guess i better get to buying the OEM radio relocation kit, OEM upper 2din radio panel from japanparts.com as well as the radio and a hacksaw.

for the sub i think i might go with a single 10 or 12 inch magic box and a 5 channel amp to run the sub as well as inside the cabin instead of 2 amps perhaps hide it inside the left hand trunk compartment. That should be all I need (not counting the rcas i need to run from the head unit to the trunk,. need to find a diy for that as well)

as for the brakes I think I'll just hold off until they need replacing cause they work just fine for me on and off the track plus theyre brand new (guy replaced them right before he sold it) though I had so much brake dust after the event sunday i wouldnt be surprised if they were halfway gone.

thanks again I'll let you know how it goes.

^make sure you make your sub quick removal for track days!

Instead of a hacksaw go with a dremel
