Green, Red or Tomei
I got few deals on these turbo, I know people are always bias about the RED
I got a deal for the green at 1000shipped, but just the turbo, got another deal for the red at 1700shipped with ported o2 and exhaust manifold with installation kit ( yup, it's a good deal ) And tomei for 1600shipped brand new with installation kit also.
Which one should i get, this is for roadcourse purpose. Want to stay at low boost 20-24psi, don't ask me why

I would say BBK or Tomei. The red is alright but it really shines at higher boost being a 35r sized wheel. I have also heard some experience compressor surge with the red having such a big wheel in a smaller compressor housing. You will also lose torque with the red at low boost levels. The Tomei looks decent but there are only like 2 people that have posted results. There are a couple tuners putting down better numbers with a BBK over the red on strait pump. I know what I would choose and it would be a BBK full...I mean come on your splitting hairs saving $100 on a turbo not considering the BBK imo.

i like what you said. BBK and tomei, I'm a jdm person, the brand tomei is always positive, and they make great product. Right now it's just a matter of bbk better or tomei better. I know tomei is better than green. Do you have the link of the tomei result?

These are the two I was referring too.

Jake has a stock turbo so he isnt really biased. I have had a Green and hated it, Ryon has the same Green and is flogging it with a bunch of boost to make 410+whp on pump, cheers to him on that.
Red doesnt surge, I have attempted to make it surge to no avail.
Aggressive MIVEC, loading the car in 6th gear (22psi at 2800rpm), E85 & E98. I do agree that they really dont like to make power until they get wound up. They need at least 25psi which is still doable on pumpgas. It actually really does spool faster than most people realise, regardless of what you see in dyno sheets. Myself I dont drive on dynos everyday, but the true street driven Red is pretty cool.
To the turbos at hand.
BBK- 24psi is about 360whp with aggressive cams, so running less than that is a waste. However you can send a IX turbo in and have it converted for about 1300 shipped which is far less than any of these other turbos.
Red- Covered but still likely to make more than 360whp at 24psi. 1800 or so shipped. I would suspect mid 370s pretty easy at 24psi.
Tomei is being rated somewhere between a Red and Green, and comparing its numbers on various fuels to the BBK, I believe that they are very close to being even. I dont know what they cost and havent looked into it too much other than power ratings. I do have a customer or 2 that are looking at this turbo really close.
The most important question you should ask yourself, Julian, is how much power do you want to make and how fast do you want to go. A stock turbo with the right mods and right fuel can go very fast and make really good power even at 24psi. Changing things like the O2 housing to an aftermarket one, the right lower intercooler pipe (the ETS V2 has been dyno proven to make more power than any other so far), possibly even a short route upper pipe to help increase charge velocity, all will go a long way.
Running high octane (such as 100 octane unleaded) fuel at the track only, even if at 24psi, will allow far more timing and can make more power on a given setup as well.
All things to think about.

I will totally agree with Aarons post... I am not sure which route I wanted to go, so I opted to get a IX turbo and see how that performs. If it isn't enough then I will have it upgraded later down the road...
