Question Installing PTE Injectors

I'm trying to install PTE 780 injectors on the car. After I pulled the stock injectors out, I noticed that they have one more rubber ring on them than the PTEs, but reusing that might make the PTEs too long - does anybody know if it's okay to not use that rubber washer or are you supposed to squish it in? Picture attached ... thanks!

You need to use the rubber seal, and yes it gets squished like crazy. PTE injectors don't fit that great, but they work well. My FIC Bluemax's fit much better.

Make sure you connect the connector before clamping down the fuel rail. The connectors don't fit past the bat-wing looking things once the rail is clamped down.

Thanks for the reply - you ever heard the saying "a man with too many watches will never know what time it is" ... LOL? I just got an email from Aaron (English Racing) telling me it's okay not to use the rubber washer (which would help with the fitment), but since it looks like you were able to make it fit, I might use them anyway just to get a better seal. I've emailed PTE too, but they haven't responded yet ...

The washer is compliant enough that it will jump over that little radial rib and squish in there. It makes things a little rough to get started but I think its helps secure the injector in the Z-axis.

Honestly I didn't put that washer on my Precisions and haven't had any issues at all. But I would recommend putting it on if you can. Also use some sort of lubricant when putting these in. Good Luck

Yeah you need to put motor oil on the seals. Don't forgot to lube the o-ring on the fuel input line, and be gentle with it. I thought I was pretty careful my first time - but sprung a massive leak. It ran and idled fine on the first startup without leaks. But on the second start it sprung a leak and sprayed gas everywhere before I realized what was going on. Lucky I didn't burn the car to the ground.

It worked out with the rubber thingy on it. The injectors kept falling out of the fuel rail when I tried to put them in (being pushed out by the rubber washer), but a couple of rubber bands did the trick . I hate those stupid clips on the plugs though ... every time I take them off I loose at least one and have to make a new one from a paperclip!

I acutally installed my injectors into the manifold first, then put the rail on. I kept dropping one injector out of the fuel rail too... rubberband is a great trick though!

What did you buy that you need those bigger injectors?

Nothing really - just kept tweaking my tune and as the boost control got better & better (using the JDM MAP) the stock injectors read over 115% ... so I knew I was fuel limited up top, not to mention after a good 15 min thrashing the car would idle like crap because the injectors overheated (I'm guessing). New ones are in and scaled, Aaron is tuning my car today - can't wait to see what it'll do now .

Is your IDC scaled? There really is no such thing as 115% IDC...that's the computer doing maths for you. But better to be safe than sorry in the end.

Yeah I know that physically you can't get over 100%, but that's what EvoScan was reading on the stock injectors. Question: where's a good place for road tuning close to Bellevue? I've been doing the freeway onramp thing to tune 1&2 pulls, but it's too public for 3rd gear and up. Any suggestions on where to go and at what time of day/night for doing some repeated WOT pulls to the top of 3rd?

^^^^ I've been trying to figure that out for a year. I hate road tuning. I use Hwy 18 on ramps out by Hobart.

Yeah I hear you. I have found some good flat runs with convenient parking lots to pull over in the Kent industrial area, but you can only use those on early weekend days, and for maybe 4 pulls before the bacon comes searching for the noise ... Hobart might be worth a try ...

Kent-Kangley road, north of 4 corners, go north past Ravensdale a mile or so, there is a road that goes east to another road that runs south by Kanaskat-Palmer state park, which is not heavily traveled. There are lots of other roads out that way that might suffice. Sorry, I don't know the names of the roads, you can easily find where I'm talking about from online maps. I don't know if the cops patrol much out there or not.
