Why are you guys recommending he ship his transmission half way across the united states when he has a shop that works closely with shep here close to him? It makes no sense. ER FTW!

ER FTMFW, no doubt! I know they could strengthen my 6-spd but it'd probably just be better to go with a stout 5 in the same housing and match a 5th gear to my needs. Just really tossing it out there to see what my homeboy Aaron has to say.

Of course, I might hate to hit 5th on a track, which is also an eventual goal. I guess I'll be conflicted somewhere.

I know it is possible but I'm not sure how practical is. I'm sure the right 5th gear would give me what I wanted and still ensure a stronger build, which would ultimately be my main goal at that point in time. Just figured I'd ask if you guys have done it, as I rarely see posts regarding this.
hey man i know you can buy straight cut gears for the 6speed but its not worth it. the kit is like 1400 plus you have to pay for labor and they say its only good till about 600hp. Trust I have done my research, even adding a oil cooler may help a bit too. long story short, this is my second tranny. I'm now going 5speed

Yeah, we talked a month ago or so about your tranny issues. I questioned why your sig stated 5-spd but you were discussing your 6-spd in a thread.

Well hopefully I'll have time to figure it out. Maybe get a ride in your ER-built 5-spd so I can see how that 5th rides on the freeway. I'm sure it is fine.

When you have a premier tuner/builder in your backyard why wouldn't you go to them? Your turnaround/downtime will be quicker, you will be able to work with them in person, and you are supporting the local economy. Now if I lived in CO like you then it might be a different story.
