you do not need a clutch your car is still a baby. Mine lasted 60k and im at 343 whp since 3k miles and i was tracking my car and using it to its potential. I went through 2 sets of brakes before the clutch went. Take the restricer pill out of your clutch line, bleed the clutch then make sure to adjust the pedal properly. Your clutch may also be glazed from slippin it too much for too long.

I should have taken it out when I was at FD. Remember how I told you to test it.

Get it into 5th at low rpm and floor it. If the rpms start to climb and the speed doesn't then it is your clutch. Afterward you will smell the burnt clutch smell. Since you are not the original owner, it doesn't matter how many miles is on the car cause you do not know how the original owner drove the car. Sorry but Mitsu will not warranty the clutch for you. I would try to bleed the clutch line since you mentioned you did have a leak and make sure no air bubbles are in the lines.

Give ER a call or contact them on the forums as they can recomend a good clutch for you and your application.

It can't be stated that he doesn't need a new clutch simply because either his Evo is a "baby" or has less miles.

The correct observations are these:

Observation #1) He just bought the Evo.

Observation #2) The clutch came in an unknown condition from the previous owner.

Observation #3) Since now the clutch is slipping, obviously the update to Observation #2 is "Poor Shape".

*****

Ok, Josel.

Lets start from square one.

So you did check all the other possible issues for the clutch not engaging?

Process of Elimination, figuring out whats wrong?

Theres only so much we forum people can do without actually diagnosing your Evo, but just make sure it is 100% your clutch before you drop dough on a clutch and later find out thats not the problem. Take it to a reputable mechanic and pay $50 or something to have it diagnosed.

If all answers say "Yes, its a messed up clutch", Please continue reading.

Q & A:

Question: Is my clutch slipping?
Answer: Yes

Question: Do I need a new clutch soon?
Answer: Yes

Question: What type of clutch do I need?
Answer: Dependent on monetary funds available and future plans for your Evo.

If you have enough money right now, I suggest a Twin Disc (Brand Dependent, $800-$1500) so that you can have room for your powerband to grow should you decide to add more mods for power later down the road. Plus they tend to last a little bit longer, around 50-75k miles or so, depending on how you use the clutch.

However, if you want to just keep it around the stock HP band (350 HP or less) and you don't plan on drag racing the darn thing, you should be fine with a Single Disc (Brand Dependent, $300-$700), they usually last around 35-50k miles, also depending on how you drive your car.

Now keep in mind there are many variables and factors involved when you are talking about the wear and tear of the clutch.

Some of the most common attributes are:

1) You Driving Habits
(If you Drag Race the thing everyday, don't expect it to last long.)

2) How much HP your Evo has
(A single disc is obviously not going to hold 1000 HP)

3) Type of Clutch (Durability)
(Carbon, Organic, Twin, Triple, Puck, etc etc.)

Summary:

Get one that fits YOUR NEEDS AND BUDGET. Because only YOU know your Evo..... Obviously because you drive it more than anyone else on the forums.

Answer to your question above, EAT Motorsports ordered my Exedy Single Disc Organic Stage One, Price $500.00, 3 Day Delivery Time.

Don't be afraid to PM / Call / Text me or anything, or if you need a ride or wingman down to English Racing, should you choose that route. I'm down..... Until classes start on Sept 20th that is.

Holy **** this is a long *** post......
