Another new WA Evo Owner

Hi, I have met a few of you guys at an English Racing dyno day in Auburn, I had the red srt-4 and was saying how I was hoping to get an IX. Well it took me driving all the way back from Los Angeles, but I am now the proud owner of a Graphite Gray IX MR SE with 15k miles. I look forward to meeting more of you guys, so far I am loving the car! It's definately not as raw as my full bolt on srt-4 but that is a good thing! I think I will keep her stock for awhile.

One quick question, what do stock IX's usually pick up from a tune by English Racing? I searched and couldn't really find anything for a bone stock IX.

I think with an ebay tbe exhaust (can be had on ebay for $220 shipped...piping is piping), a mbc, filter, and a tune you will be at around 330 whp. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. All of that could be had for less than $700.

Lucas is the man. Your car will run completely different.

Welcome! Glad you made a switch from the gheyside.

So you want to stay FULLY stock? No exhaust, boost controller or nothing??

I think tuning/leaning the car out stock should get at least 10-15whp, maybe a few more? If I were you I would contact ER and ask them.

And again, Welcome.

Well I would like to avoid getting a turbo back for awhile. Right now my SRT-4 has a 3 inch turbo back that while it sounds really sweet its also crazy loud. Its actually kind of refreshing to have a quiet ride for awhile. I would like to raise the boost without messing with a boost controller so a tune sounds awsome to me. Yeah I am sure within a year I will be right back to moding again. M
y SRT-4 had a turbo back, meth injection, wga, short throw shifter, intake and put out around 280 to the wheels. Don't worry I wasn't one of the idiots who tried to race everyone in my neon

You're gonna need a boost controller of some sort to get over stock boost pressure... A tune alone will not do that.

Welcome to the group!!

Also, you have to remember that the motor in you're SRT-4 and the motor in you're EVO are two completely different engines, and will put out a much different exhaust note. And you can get exhaust from a good company and most of them are fairly quite.

Plus an SRT-4 sounds like its drowning to survive with any exhaust on it, I hate the exhaust sound that motor produces, not to be confused though, I LOVE the cars, I get **** for it all the time.

And the small compromise, for hearing a small amount more exhaust to have a significant amount more horsepower, would be something I personally could deal with.
Like I said, meet up with some people and take note on their exhaust sound, you will see, its really not that bad.

350 AWHP > 280 FWHP

Throw a resonator and high flow cat on a 3" turbo back and it will be very quiet.

Agreed w/edison, very nice and low miles! Welcome! You should go to a local meet to get a good idea of different exhaust notes. I thought SRT-4s were more responsive to mods. I don't know much about them but similar mods on an Evo (that you had on your SRT-4) should put you over 300 easily. Probably 320 - 340 on a DJ, depending on how your car reacts.
