Dealership service in WA state
yowza! What are they saying they charge for the timing belt alone? I know the 30k was like $800 and change and that is all easy. I haven't done the timing belt on the Evo but it looks pretty significant.
Clutch to ER is where it is at. Good to hear yours is lasting to about 60k. They do timing belts too, but not sure what they charge. You could kill 2 birds there!

Korum wanted **if i wanna do stuff individually**
$504 for a t-belt (with 15% coupon and parts discount)
$357 for a valve adjustment w/spark plugs *ripoff*
$800 for 60k service
$1845 for a new clutch w/new flywheel not turned
$100 for new cut key and programming
the 60k stuff i can do on my own and have done most already (which includes a valve adjust....not sure why they listed 2 seperate amounts) and the sparkplugs i can do for sure. The t-belt doesnt look too bad, just gotta have a little time and patience. So i might do that as well.
clutch...definately dont wanna attempt! haha ER can do it.
I think John just got an ACT HD + install for about $1000 (I think just a bit more). He picked up the clutch from EAT, I think, and took it down to ER for the install. I believe ER resurfaced the stock flywheel.
$800 is a ripoff for the 60k, not including the t-belt. If you do the t-belt sometime I might be inclined to come help. I don't even think I had the patience to look at all of the documents to do it.
BTW - I have an unopened OEM LSD gear oil for cheap if you need it. Accidentally got an extra.

Wow... So my experience: drop car off at Brien Mitsu for odd knocking sound that is present from 900-2500 rpm, then goes away (at 11:00am), go to work at 2pm, get a call at 4:00 (same day, mind you) saying they thought it was the timing belt (wasn't) so they changed it and the car was ready for pickup.

I was originally going to go with Aimsoil (as I had MT-90 in my 2g DSM and Mazdaspeed3) to avoid the cold-weather issues. But the Redline NW distributor is only 2 blocks from my work and due to time constraints it had to be done.
Once I get some experience with the Aimsoil I'll definately post up with how it handles the weather in our region, plus any advantages/disadvantages with shifting.

I've officially had it with Korum Mitsubishi.
Dropped my car off 2 weeks ago on Saturday morning (9am). Book time to replace the ACD pump is 2 hours, they said since there is only 1 tech that it would take 3.
By my simple math that is 12:00 or noon for us non-millitary types.
Soooooo called at noon and the service manager had absolutely no idea what car was in the shop (cause there must have been more than 1 "blue evo" in there??), said "maybe 3pm or maybe monday afternoon. Stephanie isnt here on Saturday's so I cant help you."
Told him to check his head incase its still in his ***, and he "found" my car (it was right there in the shop!!!!). so its done at 2:45 pm. dont leave there till after 3pm.
Basic math says 5 hours for a 2 hour job.
They also didnt take any pictures of the steering wheel leather that is peeling at the seam (they also forgot to do this the first time I went there).
The relay was on back-order so they had to order that. meaning the car wasnt actually fixed, all 3 lights are on, ACD still not working.
fast forward to today: Have an appt for Friday, and ask about the steering wheel: "oh, we can take pictures of that when you come in". Apparently responding with "which time? i've had the car in there twice and you havent figured out how to use your camera yet" wasnt the right answer.
And asking why it took 5 hours to do a 2 hour labor also wasnt correct. She clearly remembers telling me that it would take "all day". Not so much.
Good thing, Korums service Manager (Chuck Holms, direct line: 253-826-5174) sent me a recorded message asking if everything was done perfect, if i'm not 100% satisfied then give him a call..... Chuck, your getting a call tomorrow morning buddy!
Tally:
Time my car has been at Korum Mitsubishi to replace the ACD pump: 15 business hours, 3 overnight stays.
Miles driven to/from Korum Mitsubishi to take my car to their shop: 3 trips at ~100 miles roundtrip = 300 miles
Hours of work/pay i've lost dealing with Korum Motors: 9 hours

^damn that sucks! Do lemon laws apply to new cars? I'm guessing not. I think if they are in the shop for more than 45 hours (don't quote me) for any given issue then they are considered a lemon.
^^im not sure thats entirely correct ^^ i thought the car had to be IN 3 different times for a problem thats verified, but has not been fixed (after trynig to repair the issue)...or something like that.
ill have to look at the lemon law papers i have sitting around LOL!
sucks to hear that people (evo owners) have such a hard time with dealership service. I actually have to take my car BACK in to Korum for my free window regulator. lol

I think that is also part of the lemon law. Basically x number of times or y number of hours. I had a friend that took advantage of the latter, I believe. It was a GMC Envoy XL.
^I don't know how lemon laws apply to a 2nd, or more, owner. I'm guessing they don't.
Regardless, when people do take advantage of the lemon law it is usually when they are getting things repaired under warranty because I think there is a time limit (like a year?) where the law applies. I don't know that it matters if you bought at that dealer either, as you are taking it up with the car company directly at that point.
I decided to google this right quick, just to see. This is what I got from here:
Are you driving a "lemon"?
If you have been taking your vehicle (with a manufacturer's warranty) to the mechanic shop for repairs on the same problem, or your vehicle has been in the mechanic shop for a total of 30 or more days, you may have a claim under your the California Lemon Law, the Washington Lemon Law, or the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
Sounds like something to look into, just in case!
