Any Female Evo Owners?
PM'd ya, Rob!
coryl, it is a fuggin' mitsubishi, not a high end car.
You need to get with some of the local owners and find a good mechanic that will do this for cheap, or do it on your own. Oil changes are really easy - even easier if you have access to a lift or a good set of ramps. BTW - if you want to stick with the stock oil (assuming the X uses the same oil as the IX) you can get a box of it at Costco for pretty cheap. I think Walmart even carries gallons of it for cheap.
Whether the dealer lets you bring it in is entirely up to them. As we've established though, that dealer sucks so go elsewhere.

Yes, it's highway robbery here in Canada at the dealerships...actually any dealership here. They can charge what they want or so they say. And it's worse for high end cars like the EVO, as they know that you probably wouldn't risk screwing up such a car by taking it somewhere else...very few people here have seen an EVO never mind worked on one. I just cannot imagine someone putting in the wrong oil or it draining out or something horrible like that.
It's the oil price they charged me that makes it so outrageous. I can bring in my own oil next time, right? It has to be Mobil 1, 100% synthetic, or I mess with my warranty or so they say. I'm going to call Mitsu and see what I can bring in to keep my warranty. I notice that there are a few different 100% synthetic oils here by mobil...one is slightly more expensive than the other....about $11 CAD per litre.

On the X is like any other oil change. You just gotta take the cover off from underneath where the filter is. Is like 8 or 9 10mm bolts, I can't remember for sure. I did it a while back. I can't believe they charge that much. Reminds me of the Benz stealerships around here..........

If it's up to the dealer on whether I can bring in my own oil, then it will probably be a "no". Who else in the world can charge $25/litre for just the oil? I'm sure they want to keep the profits.
I always bring my own oil. Most of them won't say they allow it, not outright anyway. You actually have to say something yourself. Tell them you're bringing your own oil. I had a family member working at a dealership and he said they aren't supposed to say anything about that option for people, but they do do it if someone requests it.

Guys do do too!
Hi guys,
A little off topic, but want to ask any of you for support with the Haiti concern. I have a friend who I just just got off the phone with, and she has two brothers and an aunt in Haiti who were 'missing'...her youngest brother is in his 20's and his body has just been found under some rubble and they are going to bury him next week. The aunt has cardiac issues, and they believe that she hasn't survived without her medication...they are praying and searching for the older brother. Another friend that I work with has been in the Canadian news as she has has just been found...thank god, because she is a wonderful person too.
This is a horrible tragedy...these people in Haiti have nothing and then they are having to deal with this. If any of us have any extra, it would be so appreciated.
Thanks,
Corinne

Here is the news broadcast of my friend who was visiting Haiti...thank god she had her cell phone with her.
A Canadian woman trapped under rubble after the recent earthquake in Haiti managed to send out a text message to the Foreign Affairs Department in Ottawa, a place nearly 3,000 miles away. And it saved her life.
Once received, the text message was "relayed to Canadian diplomats back in Haiti" who then provided aid in the search for the woman. There's not much more information beyond that, but it's simply good to hear even the tiniest bit of encouraging and happy news in regards to this devastating event—particularly when it shows that a gadget and solid communication between diplomats can save a life.
