swift spec r's with kyb struts

Hey guys just needed a opinion was looking at buying this set up and wanted to know what you all thought about it. My car is already lowered but the struts im thinking need to be replaced soon so i figured why not try a whole new set-up. I did try and find forums talking about this and i found some but none with this exact set-up found one about swift sports with kyb's but not spec-r's. I already have stiff springs so i know the spec-r's being stiffer than the sports won't bother me i love the feel! Thanks guys!

haha ya i was looking into coilovers, but i was told by my buddy who is a actual race car driver that coilovers are pointless really unless you go to the track and race all the time cause when are you going to actually change the height and then you have to get the alignment done everytime to and he said it would just be a pain for me. Now on a race car on the other hand he said they are they way to go!

Any particular reason you're focused on that combo? Here's a great thread that might help you out if you're still looking at options.

Just jumping to coilovers does not mean better handling.

SpecRs do work on the KYBs.

Ditch the KYB's and atleast get MR Bilsteins. If you aren't going to track most likely not going to need coilovers. I went from Swift/Bilstein combo to custom Ohlins and yes it was a huge difference but on the street unless you are driving like an idiot you don't need the extra benefits. There are more downsides such as adjustments, noise, ride harshness, alignment, and more frequent rebuilds. Not including costs for a decent set of coilovers (ie decent meaning sub $2000 don't buy you anything that great)

I would start off with that seeing as that combo can easily be found for less than $500 and work quite well. I tracked that setup a few times and it was more than capable. Combine it with a mild RSB and good tires and it will be plenty fun for atleast a year or two.

I'm running spec-R's on the Bilsteins, and so is Andrew (not sure if a ride in my car helped or not). Agreed with what you and the others are saying - you will not come close to utilizing the coilovers during normal street driving, certainly not enough to cover the jump in cost.

Blisten shocks/red swift springs, otherwise dump money into coils
