English or Arsenal?

Hey guys its about that time for me to get a tune.. It seems like with the past couple just basic services the mechanics have butchered my poor evo... As a result im very very nervous on who i take my car to. I was thinking of taking it to FullArsenal motorsports which local for me, But i also realize that half the northwest has a huge boner for english racing. problem being its a very long commute for someone with a two month newborn. Is English worht the drive or will arsenal suffice? Thoughts Opinions Comments? Thanks guys any help appreciated!

i don't know anything about fullarsenal but the reason why we like ER so much is we don't want to have our evos butchered and we want to do it right the first time. I had my car tuned about two and a half months ago at er which wasn't the closest to me, there were about 3 other choices but i still took it to er and i love their customer service but especially the work that went into my car.

You're spending money either way to get your Evo fixed right? Go to the best. Period. It's worth the drive.

To give you as unbiased an opinion as I can, just look at the facts:

Not many here, if any, have any sort of experience with Arsenal. That doesn't mean they won't do a good job or a bad one. That makes them a gamble, you're taking a chance on a 4000 dollar motor that they won't screw something up to save a few hours of driving.

As for ER, it's not that anyone here has a hardon for them, it's that NO ONE here has been treated badly by them, and NO ONE here that I know of has had a bad experience. Beyond that, DSM's/Evo's are their specialty, so they know what they're doing more than any other shop in the NW.

Just like other people have said, the fact that EVERYONE who goes to ER reports back positive results is why we all say to go there. Now that isn't to say that arsenal won't do a good job, but YOU KNOW that if you take it to ER it will be done right. Have you asked Lucas or Aaron if they are going to be closer to you at some point in the near future? If they are you might be able to get a road tune and not have to deal with the drive.

arsenal can do anything that deals with part installs and maintenance to full engine re-buildsand turbo upgrades. I personally have spent about 30k through them getting three completely different cars fully built and "street tuned" by them. They are failry new, however, and just got their fwd dyno... so i will be getting my evo tuned next time at ER.

I'd take it to English, just because everyone gets good results through them. Its one of those deals where they've made a name for themselves, and they did a damn good job doing it, as where Arsenal is still barely known, you could always be the one to try them out, but like people said above me, its not worth the gamble of screwing up a $4,000 motor. Just my 2 cents.

English Racing did me right! I took my EVO to a closer tuner shop in Hillsboro (where I was at the time) to "fix" a problem of mine. They could not fix the problem so I wasted money. I then took it to Lucas and Aarron at English racing and they did me right, tuned and on my way in an afternoon. Awesome guys, great knowledge and superb heritage. Take it to the best the first time and you wont have to take it there later for them to fix somebody else's mess up.

I think Eric cleared the air on this one. I think he is sponsored by arsenal (or maybe he sponsors them spending $30k ) but he will be taking his car to ER for a tune.

OP, you mentioned needing a tune specifically so sounds like ER is the way to go.

CJ's actually been around for a long time, as to his skill in mechanics or tuning I can't attest. He used to run a home operation out of his garage for a long time.

I know for someone who would 'street tune' he sure took a lot of stuff to Pina to get tuned.

I have called him for a few prices before, I think he is a little over priced, charging a big shop number for an unrecognized shop just starting out, but to each their own.

+1 for English.
