I can't believe you bought them even after seeing they weren't what you expected in person? I mean, ya it's wrong of him to misrepresent what he's selling, but come on man...

It is not the buyer's job to make sure he isn't getting ripped off. It is the seller's job to tell the truth and do the right thing.
Are you kidding me??? It is entirely your job as a buyer to make sure you're not getting ripped off. You're buying stuff off of some random guy... I know you don't want to hear posts like this, but seriously man.. you need to know that you are ultimately responsible for making sure you're not getting ripped off... you actually saw them in person before you bought them.

Thank you. Finally, some sense.

I mean honestly.

And as much as I feel you, as I have a motor downstairs right now from a similar situation. Quit crying like a baby and man up, like its been said, sell what you don't want. It sounds like you got a $350 pair of used springs for $350, or a little less because you met him.

So?

You were getting the springs anyways? You overpayed? Could a, should a , would a got em for less. Wah.

Granted we are getting one side of the story, but it sounds like the seller said one thing before the sale: yes, these are absolutely MR struts off of my 05 MR (only to find out his profile shows an 03 GSR?). And then something else after the sale: RS or GSR struts would fit my 05 MR and those were my old struts.

It could very well be that he has an 05 MR now, but he apparently got the 03 GSR in Jan 09 and there was a thread with him stating that he would be getting Swift springs less than 1 year ago (Apr09). If his current car is also RR like his 03 GSR then I'm calling major BS cause I'm guessing he doesn't have an 05 MR.

Regardless of what I perceive as BS from the seller based on what I've read, I'm just glad that this information was posted as I would not care to do business with this person. Jordon, I'm sure if you bought your basement motor from a local and you could have made a stink on these forums that would matter, then you would have.

You can't fault the buyer completely. Sure he may have thought they were Bilsteins but to have someone assure you is another thing. If the seller said I'm not sure if they are or not, they are off my MR then okay it is his fault.

Like the show Pawn Stars on Discovery Channel, if you are unsure what you are looking at, then bring in an expert.

Even if he has an MR, its not a guarantee that those arent the struts/springs off it. Trust me I have seen it all.

VIIIs with MIVEC, VIIIs with IX front ends, VIIIs with galant (yes you read that right) interior, Evo VIII wheels on IXs and vice versa, Evo VIII interior in MRs, 6 speeds in 03s, etc. Weird crap happens and not everyone knows what they really have.

Bilsteins are Yellow and totally impossible to miss. Anything else "stock" is KYB.

Basically any car that comes from Cruizin Auto Sales is never what it seems. I said IX, but it was actually Jakes VIII had that Galant interior in it.

It sounds like the seller was not knowledgeable about his car or the parts that were on it. You have to protect yourself man when buying stuff from people. I had the same thing happen to me back in the Honda days. I bought a set of axles, not really knowing what to look for. They were all clean and new looking, but when I brought them to the shop to install them I found out they were broken.

Key thing here is if you and the seller don't know wtf is going on, it's going to end up badly. Bring a more knowledgeable friend with you or look up some pics of what you are supposed to be getting at least. You knew they were supposed to be yellow, they also straight up say bilstein on them.

Now having said that, a good seller would still give you your money back and take the struts back at least seeing as both of you didn't know what was going on. But now that you both know he should take them back for full refund on both springs and struts, or if he agrees with the amount for just springs then he should refund the difference.

If the seller really has an 03 like he has posted in various different threads but then told McD that he has an 05 MR (and doesn't) that is straight BS. Very good point about a good seller refunding if they didn't know.
