so i already posted a "hello" in the newbie thread... figured i might say hi to the locals.
i recently picked up a red 03 evo i found on craigslist. its "mechanically sound" says the dealer... not so much. so far its needed a new o2 sensor, rear pads are shot and, tires are toast... that i know of. the dealer has been pretty shady about everything but, whatever. its got 141k miles on it and a team innovations sticker on the hood. I'm pretty sure it got beat up just like i plan to do to it.
i haven't actually seen the car except in photo's so I'm getting a bit anxious as well as prepared! after reading a hundred+ threads over the past week or so i think I'm starting to get an idea of what to get and where. ER looks to have some strong favor from the crowd but, what about perrin or surgeline? i had decent luck with perrin from my scoobie days but, that was quite a while ago. I'm in the portland area.
i want to set the car up for an inspection and to do list. im not sure what's been modified and whats more beat up than im aware of. photo's attached in case someone recognizes the car and has any background.

welcome to the community, hope it isnt in too bad of shape. most of what you listed is relatively cheap and easy to fix. I live around 300+ miles away from ER and would never go anywhere else. I did it a long time ago and my car got screwed up. Thanks again to Lucas and ER for getting the car back on track after i heard of them. Excellent work, caring people that excel in customer service and great prices are to be had at ER. ER FTW

welcome aboard, ER is the place to get tuned. Just out of curiosity why did you buy a vehicle or anything from a shady dealer

i bought it for the cheap price tag and clean title. i considered a few salvage ones but, they were running about the same price just fewer miles. my overall goal for the finished car made this one a decent choice. the issues that it has arent really slowing me down so much as defining what to upgrade first. i just cant wait to get home and drive it... gonna be nice to have something that actually CAN go above 70mph again.
so no input on surgeline or perrin? i would think for sure someone had some experience with them.

How much was the car, if you don't mind me asking? There was a local member trying to sell his RR with about half the miles for $11k and change I believe. I am not sure if it sold yet, but it appeared to have been maintained very well.

Did you already buy the car? Might be worth having it checkout before you do, or shop around for something with fewer miles.

already bought and paid 13k wish i would've seen the other RR first. oh well, life goes on. my mechanic friend looked it over and gave me a 7/10 for the condition. its runs strong, no clutch slip and, no leaks that can be found.
i may pick up your DP if it doesn't have one yet. i still need to actually get my eyes on it (only 1 more month!)
