WAIRONWORKER has a friend who goes to auto auctions and occasionally sees Evo up for bid. I am sure for a small fee he would bring you along and you might be able to pick a nice evo at auction. I know this is a bit of a gamble, but I have heard of evos going for 8-9k at auction. Which would cut your sales tax in half and leave you some scratch to have ER fix/upgrade anything it needs.

Just a thought.

I would say try to find a IX. Enough little changes were made to the 9s to justify it.

If I were in the market for a new evo I would strongly consider: It is a steal.

Well you can usually figure you can knock 1k+ off asking price. Seriously though, that car has a lot of money into it and I am sure Works would vouch for its condition.

That WW IX in CA is an RS, so make sure you research what you want out of your Evo!

RS - ralli sport, revised 5-speed, aluminum roof, gauge pack, minimal interior, also no radio.

Trust me, you wont miss not having the POS factory radio.

they have AC and auto everything? For some reason I thought they were missing one or the other. +1 on the POS factory radio, though!

The RS excluded features standard on the standard, SE and MR models (stereo system, power windows and locks, rear wiper, rear wing, trunk lining and sound insulation). The result is a weight savings of over 60 lb (27 kg)

Who needs that stuff anyways.

No ABS either...if you plan to track an RS they are nice if not they are a pain imo.

Hey what's up No Fear =D I actually live over in West Richland. Yes, there are a few EVO owners around here but not many on the forum it seems. As far as looking around for a nice used EVO, you have to just keep your eyes peeled. When you do find one I would recommend having a shop check the cars out before you purchase it. As always Lucas and the guys do a fantastic job and their work speaks for itself, but if your looking for someone close, go check out my boys down at Kaizenspeed. (www.kstuned.com) Reid has been playing with quite a few EVOs as of late and currently has my baby being reassembled. It's been a 9-month journey but she should be a beast when complete. You should drop in and take a look as their fab work and attention to detail speak for themselves. I also believe Reid is one of the great tuners up here in the NW we are lucky to have. BTW if you need any take off parts I sell really cheap. Just about everything listed on the old set-up is for sale. Look forward to meeting you sometime and tell the boys down at Kaizen Scott sent you.

If you really wanted it, you can add ABS to the RS. I know a few people on here have done it.
