I'd recommend researching and posting where applicable so that your post count goes up and you can do the marketplace stuff on your own. good luck!

I am sure there are a number of cars available in your general area. If you have an idea of what you want to spend i am sure people can help you locate the best car for the money. Best to get your financing/dollars in hand straightened out first though. There are even a few members with connections that could potentially help you pick up an Evo at auction. If you wanted to take on a project that may need some love. On the good side, you are not that far from English Racing.

English Racing is great. I had them build/tune my eclipse. As for price I'm looking to spend 18k to 19k.

Nah, name is Justin.

Man sales tax is a killer on these cars. It's a ***** to have to pay 1500 in tax..

Justin,

I'll look again, TJ's ended up going inexpensive when it finally sold. Should have jumped on it for 16,500/455whp.

I think there is a IX in Kennewick that a guy who works at Baxters was telling me about. A little overpriced but you might be able to get them to come down on the price.

@ Aaron, what a steal on TJ's ride!

BTW Justin, sales tax is a killer on anything that is 18k - 19k in the state of WA, unless exempt from sales tax (food, etc.).

Wow, that is expensive! I think I paid ~$1k more than that when I bought my IX new!

But it has a flip out screen and ice cold AC! Clearly worth 31k.

My friend told me I could put the sales price way low on the registration papers and say its wrecked to get a lower tax.. not sure if that works..?

lol. I emailed the guy about it and asked if the price was a typo and said I could almost get a brand new Evo for that and he said

No man, it's not a typo. On the topic of the 2010 evo, they changed the motor. It's not the same motor. They went to an ugly body style and the seats are beyond uncomfortable.

Well I have done this on some older vehicles I bought, the difficult part is if the price you put on the bill of sale is lower the the actual car value, they look up your ACV, than you have to pay taxes on the ACV. So to get the lower tax you have to go to a mechanic, and get a quote for all the repairs for the vehicle and the cost for repairs and the purchase price for the vehicle has to equal or exceed the ACV.
There are a few other ways to get around the taxes, have the person "gift" it to you on the title, that will exempt your from taxes, or get a car with a salvage or rebuilt title than the ACV is exempt from the vehicle.
I have dealt with this a few times.
