i was in the navy (just got out) and my wife is still in the army and we made it work. (it doesnt get any worse then dual military spouses). it will be trying at times but aas long as ur marriage is strong and u can communicate well with ur spouse then it's fine.
after training and not including deployments the military is just another job with a built in PT program.

True, so true... The only thing that sucks about the Chair Force is they don't advance quickly. The Navy is the best for that. I made E-5 at my 16 months mark in the Navy. Can't beat that 45k a year with no college! That does have a lot to do with my job so it is not like that for everyone...

45k a year = ~19.50 to 20.50 an hour, which by most standards is almost impossible to live off of without help. In the military it is possible, and quite good money considering you don't really have to pay much in the way living expense bills.

Well my advice would be to research what industries are booming or are going to be in need 3-5yrs down the road. I did this a few years back when I started in the Automation industry. Got my mechanical design AS and 4-5 yrs work experience and now a supervisor at mid 20's.

I have SME's from the Navy that were E7's and Chiefs that work under me...which is a tad odd being that some of them are twice my age. Hard work, dedication, and willing to give up some things will get you a long way now a days. Look in the right spot and there are alot of places that can make well over 50k a year...I was lucky enough to find one of them.

One other alternative over here in Kitsap is the shipyard. Do an apprentice program and start out at $18hr and within the first year you are $22-23hr. After you finish your BA (which is paid for) you are over $30hr within a few years. Just do your research and get help writing a solid resume and know how to talk well about your experiences and employers will look at this.

I won't say a whole lot about the Navy or Military but I would suggest researching this possibility alot. Have an idea where you would want to go once in and make sure this is what you would want. Because once you sign a large portion of your time is dedicated towards this. Most turn out to love it but I know a few who have regrets. I chose the civilian route being the black sheep of my family for the most part and have no regrets.
