*sigh* Help Please

Hey guys.... so on Saturday this weekend heading EB on I84 I received a speeding ticket. Thankfully I was in a rental and not in the Evo; or I might have been cited for more than just that. Going through the twisty Gorge section, had a truck pulling a U-Haul trailer that was wandering a lot, so when it came to the straight, accelerated to get by him before the next section of twisties. Just as I passed the truck, there was the trooper on the side. Explained myself but was cited anyway (of course, holiday weekend).

I'm looking to speak to an attorney that is knowledgeable with the operations in the Hood River court system, as best case, I'd like to pay the fine and keep the ticket off of my MVR, as I drive for work. Anybody know anyone that can help with that?

Thanks!

It cost me an extra $250 in the long run to get a local attorney to fight a little ticket out in the olympic peninsula.

Google is your friend for searching for legal representation in places outside the greater Seattle area.

Oh, and best of luck! Tickets suck and perhaps the wandering truck/u-haul should have been cited??????? oh yea, public safety and all that....

If you haven't deferred a ticket in 7 years, you can go that route.

I use Andy Phipps, and I have exclusively ever since I was referred to him for a ticket I received in Ritzville. He definitely handles tickets out of the area, or at least he used to. Best of luck!

Just call the court house and ask them if the allow for deferrals. It might be the case that you can petition for one on your own (ask for forms). May save you a few $.

I took a road trip last week to Socal and got a ticket in Yreka, CA. I was going 105 mph, but the nice officer only wrote a ticket for 74 mph. He also wrote in the comment that I was going 100+. Then on the way home from Vegas, I hit a deer going 70 mph in Idaho. Dented my front driver fender, broke my mirror and dented my quarter panel.
Then 6 hrs later my wife got a ticket in Grandview, WA. She was going 80 mph in a 70 mph. So the F***en officer wrote her a ticket. I hate WSP. So Yahu, can I get the attorney number?
My trip was from Seattle to Socal then to Vegas and back home. BTW, I was in the Lexus. Thank god.......

Hey, McDougal
I am a bad driver because I speed?? or because I hit a deer?

I recieved a speeding ticket a few months ago 81 in a 60. I called my pre-paid legal and they couldn't find a single thing wrong with the way the ticket was written but they did advise me to show up to court about 15mins early and talk to the prosecutor and ask to amend the ticket to a non-moving violation. So I show up early and talk with the prosecutor about the violation and he tells me that he would be willing to amend the ticket to an expired tabs violation if I was willing to pay $20 more...I said HELL YEA! and that was that not on my record haha ...not sure if the "amend" option would apply to your situation but its definitely worth a try GL!

I believe this is his web site. Sounds like you had a round of bad luck. Shoulda driven the turbo'd car. The spooling scares of the deer! (I'm kidding, but that is what I like to tell myself!).

Well, if you know the area is heavily deer concentrated, then you should know to be going slower through there. There are these things called high beams to help with seeing in the distance at night.
Then moving onto the speeding portion

This is speeding is it not? I think so. So why expect to get out of a ticket when she was in the wrong from the start. I see the police doing their job just fine.

The original poster of this thread has a good question, but in your case, there is nothing wrong with why a ticket was given.

Just pay the ticket and move on with life, I received about 7 speeding tickets from January 07-Feb 09' (74/55, 71/55, 74/55, 58/45, 41/25, 64/50, and 70/55) while being stationed in VA, however it paid to have a out of state license so that wasn't affected.

I learned the hard way, burning a hole through my wallet, to slow down and don't care to speed much anymore as it is. I pretty much had it memorized how much a ticket was going to cost me as soon as they told me what I clocked. It's much more relaxed on the highway out here than it is over there.

Thanks for all the help. As I had previously posted, I am not looking to get out of the ticket, merely was asking if anyone knew if Oregon allowed deferments or knew of an attorney I could talk to about it. I was speeding, just wish to keep it off of my MVR.

Thanks again.
