Sea-Auto

So I had to come up to DO today and after I was done hanging out with Bob, Bill, Nathan, Terry, and the new guy I headed up to Sea-Auto to meet Nikolai and Piotr. Nice guys, love cars, needed me to check out 4 cars they had in stock. So there is an VIII with a Magnus and stock turbo, a IX with turbo kit (ETS from the look of it), an VIII MR and a 04 lightning yellow. I had seen some possible bad press and was very interested in being able to talk to them face to face.

Despite what has been said, their work is top notch, the cars are in good shape, and I will be checking them out for them prior to sale from now on. They dont specialise in Evos, but they do get them in and sell them so they wanted someone who knows what to look for on point.

I wouldnt hesitate to deal with them personally and my saying that isnt something I do everyday. We get lots of calls about where to find the "deal" or get that car that has to have the exact parts list prior to delivery. I know where to go find them and they want us to make sure that the public is getting the best deal. Anyone that has any questions about any of the cars can call the shop and if you wanna pay for it even have me come up and look at others.

just general FYI.

Bought my VIII from them a little over a year ago and haven't had any problems with it (knock on wood). They seemed like pretty honest salesmen to me.

I am distrustful of any used car dealership, but ones run by Russians more so.

Nice PSA for possible future Evo owners - get your car pre-checked by the Midget!

I tend to lean with Andrew's sentiment but if Aaron is giving them a once over first (and approves) then that is all anyone should really need to know.

Thats where I bought our 9 MR, pretty straight shooters. NO issues with the car it had 36k on it when we picked it up. Came with some aftermarket extras that neither of us knew about, until I started wrenching on it later. After searching for a month of so, they had the cleanest and straightest evo I found. and it wasn't held together with zip ties

Seriously...

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/no...lp-t-case.html

I wouldn't buy an 81 honda from them for $5!! how dare you..

1. MOST of there cars are hit
2. The cars that aren't they got in as a trade from people they traded one of their rebuilt
3. Once they have your money they treat you like sh*t if you need them to do anything else
4. Read the google reviews and such NOT one good review
5. They fix the cars right behind the show room!
6. They told me the whole car had been looked over and the reason the trans went out is because it had ZERO fluid! Which I planned on changing but the t-case had some kind of leak so I wanted to fix that first before I changed the fluids. They of course spray'd off the bottom of the car so I couldn't see any fluid leaks before I bought it.
7. Never trust any used car dealer let alone russians, I won't deal with sea auto if they had the last evo in the world!!

They are even holding our license plates to the car we bought because we didn't pay them the last $200 of the down payment. Dunno about the rest of the honest americans here but if I owned a dealership, just sold someone a car for 19k and the transmission went out days after I sold it, I wouldn't worry about $200 let alone someone that's more than likely going to take you to court.

On another note Mark Wright from Q13 fox cam into my work last week and we're talking about doing a story about used car dealerships. Also sent an email to Komo 4 new's since my grandpa works for the Fishers (owners of komo 4). I don't like being screwed over, let alone thousands of dollars.

I had something REALLY LONG typed out just now but deleted it.

*Cliffs*- You might have had a bad experience. I decided to do something about it rather than just let people complain. Therefore I did DARE and am SERIOUS, you dont like it thats fine. The final decision still comes down to anyone that is there to do business. If I have inspected the car, offer to throw it on the dyno, and have checked the tune/corrected issues, I dont know what more to say of my offer to help them and the buying public.

As long as you have a trustworthy mechanic/Tuner inspect it before the purchase you will be set.

I work at Acura of Lynnwood, and dude my used car manager doesnt know crap about these cars, either do the techs.

I bought a 05 evo from evergreen ford in issaquah. 4k miles after the purchase I had rod knock. My fault for not taking it to get inspected by aaron.

Now i had ER do majority of the work on my car and i couldnt be happier.

Thanks aaron.

Hello Everybody!!

New Evo guy here....long time reader, first time poster.

As someone that just recently bought an Evo from a dealer I'd like to say sometimes it doesn't matter how reputable a dealer, how well they present themselves/their product or what nationality the majority of the employees working there are, you can still get a lemon.

I recently bought my Evo from a dealer (that will remain unnamed) that is family owned, been in business for 60+ years, had good reviews online, were very personable and seemed to be very concerned about selling me a quality vehicle. Because of my need for a car right away (mixed with my lack of impulse control) I relied on their safety inspection to be the "Yay" or "Nay" on buying my new Evo. Everything checked out so I found myself with a new to me Evo.

Two months later it needs a new clutch, the rear brake pads were down to 1-2mm (luckily figured that out before damage was done), front pads were almost to the squeaker bar, intake was a joke (I totally blame myself for that one...studied about Evo ones a little too late), leaking transfer case and to top it off....they over filled the oil by a quart (they have an oil changing station on site along with their repair shop....they should know better). All of that from a dealer that seemed like the right place to buy a car from.

I talked to them and they kinda wanted to work it out for me but considering everything to this point I told them thanks but no thanks. I'd rather have someone that I trust work on it. In the end I didn't get an independent shop look at it (like I did with my STi, so I do know better) and so with this car I'll take my lumps and move on. In turn the dealer knows that I'll never be back there again and I won't be sending anyone their way (and I already had but luckily one of my friends and my soon to be mother-in-law hadn't gone and checked them out yet).

That's the joy of owning cars....sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I'm out a few grand right now that I didn't have to spend but at the end of the day I'd rather take it as a learning experience...*no matter how legit a dealer or a private seller seems or how well I think the car looks/functions, I need someone trustworthy and not connected to the transaction to help me decide*...instead of getting angry at my situation.

And kudos to you ER....everything I've read about you guys impresses the hell out of me (and your quick response to one of my inquires doesn't hurt either). I think its really cool that you'll go and check out some Evo's at a dealer with a questionable history and work with them to see how you can help to make sure that quality used Evos are going out into the wild. Hopefully once I get my ride put back together and refill my bank account I'll be down for a tune!

-Joe (the new guy with an 06 Evo)

Thanks for the welcome! This is vehicle #11 for me so I'm pretty used to car troubles. I've had some great/reliable vehicles and I've also had some real piles. As for the dealer, I'd name them if I asked them to make things right and they told me to **** off but since I'm not giving them the opportunity, I'm not going to talk bad about them. In the end it really shouldn't matter who the dealer/private seller is when you're buying used from...a good inspection/maintenance records should be the deciding factors. My lack of patience and unjustified trust for dealer was my downfall this time around. Lesson learned (again...heh)!

I'm hopefully getting it back tonight or tomorrow with a new clutch, brake pads, steel brake lines and fluids....can't wait!

Well honestly, I'd love to the dealer and throw a fit but my assumption is that if they were to do anything to fix my Evo it would be done in their shop which I don't trust. Most likely they'd just tell me that I must have destroyed my clutch and while I was at it I probably messed up my transfer case seal. I'd love to hear their techs excuse for my shot brake pads/over filled oil. The salesman was just like..."Uhhh, I don't know what to say...you should have brought it too us." Yeah....probably just to over fill it again (and that's why I do my own oil changes). And if I had to fight with them to do anything it would just end up being a lot of legal fees and time that I don't have to waste.

In the end its worth not messing around with them anymore and instead just getting it fixed correctly with the parts I want. I really hope I get it back today though....I hate riding the bus!
