Here's my take on it...

1. If you wave and the guy waves back, you are an enthusiast and a good guy/gal.

2. If you wave and the guy/girl doesnt wave back because they didnt see you, no harm no foul.

3. If you wave and the guy/girl looks right at you and doesnt wave, or just smiles and smirks at you like you're stupid, then they are a douschebag.
