I realize that LOUD Evo's are cop magnets, ...
Fixed.

Maybe the cops saw the rear wing or loud exhaust and it down right infuriated them. .
^
This!

I have been stopped once in my X. Cop stopped me 'cause I had no license plates on the car and the rear wing blocked any view of the temp tag in the right rear window (inside). He suggested it would be more readable in a plastic protector and taped to the rear license plate area.

Then I showed him where it stated on the temp tag to "Place in lower right of rear window". I put it where the instructions said - not my fault the wing covers that up.

Iirc I had like 800 miles on it then.

yes sir we do understnd that she accused you of passing on the shoulder, but she wrote you for wreckless driving and there had to be many other factors in place inorder for you to get a wreckless ticket. in the state of Wa it is legal to pass on the right when your not in a intersection and Wa doesnt specify in the RCW where the roadway ends and begins so its legal to pass on the right as long as your not doing it wrecklessly! driving at freeway speeds (or above because in possitive you were) while merging into traffic is wreckless to pass on the right (by passing on the right i mean the "shoulder").

Wow. They write you up in Washington for being wreckless? That's rough. I've been driving for 30 years and haven't had a wreck yet. I'd better stay away from the Pacific northwest. Or just dump some of my common sense and/or driving skills.

Here in Iowa, you only get in trouble for being reckless, which can be as simple as passing someone on the shoulder with no other infractions involved.

Note... you don't have to do anything wrong to get pulled over and handed random tickets.

I also live in Virginia where traffic tickets are a large source of income for the state and the only way that the local and state police departments can avoid lay offs and budget cuts. We are also the state that put into effect an extra Tax to charge only Va residents additional fees for tickets that maxed out to the $75,000 range before congress found it unconstitutional. "What do you mean i was riding my bicycle down the street and got a "Disobeying a Traffic Sign Ticket" and now i have points equivalent to a reckless speeding ticket on my motor vehicles license, have to pay a $286 ticket plus an additional $350 tax because I'm a Va Resident?" But due to the loss in income we now use an extortion scam where we have ticket weekends which involves putting as many cops on the streets as they can to write as many tickets as they can with no warnings or tolerance. "But officer i was only going 3 mph over the speed limit.... i thought there was a 5mph grace area? <Here's your ticket and please drive safe.>".

Gotta love the world we live in and the tickets we get for license plate covers, after market wheels, and any exhaust that did not come on your car from the factory regardless of it being quite or loud just because there mad they didn't catch you speeding this time.

Not sure how it is in other states, but every court I've been too around here has adopted a Chinese style of justice... Guilty until proven innocent by a lawyer who plays golf with the judge on week ends. Last time i went in the judge stated before he started hearing cases that unless you have something written, proven, documented or caught on tape to show the officer is 100% wrong then don't bother plea'ing innocence. I think that was for my street racing ticket where two riced out honda's drove past me on the highway and because i had a wing on my car i must have been with them.

Sorry about the rant and good luck on yours mate. I wish ya the best. =)

Me, too. Plus he puts a period or semi-colon after every sentence, which is rare.

I find it funny how some people say I don't know if you broke the law then lump assumptions, even citing speed, onto the OP (and then horrible math to "even it out"). Listen, none of us know what occurred. Is the OP "passionate" or "emotional?" Of course he is, I would be too seeing as I've never gotten a reckless.

I know of 3 direct circumstances where a reckless was handed out (I've heard of more, but never got the details). Ryan was guilty but got it reduced (I believe); my good friend was completely innocent but the cop was a dick (my friend got off completely free and the judge went off on the cop in the courtroom); and now there is this one.

I don't know the OP well enough to know how he drives; I don't know the on-ramp well enough to know how legal or not his manuever was; I don't know the cop well enough to know whether she was just a batch. There are some friggin' long on-ramps in the area and one that has multiple lanes is usually one of those long ones. Also, the multiple lanes are usually indicative of multiple points of entrance; certainly indicative of multiple rates of speed.

Also, those posting way out of state really aren't helping (Oregonians are close enough, and have likely faced WA's legal system). WA state law is exactly that. It is quite easy to get off of tickets here. Technically, if the cop doesn't do her due diligence then she could also be considered "breaking the law," (okay, that is a stretch) in which case the OP will likely get off. Again, I suggest a lawyer - don't penny pinch then complain about it later.

I might not be helping, but it's not because I'm far away. You see, there's this new thing called "the internet" where you can search for and read the laws of places that are really far away. Try it sometime. It's hella kewl.

I don't give a fugg how hella kewl you think the internet is. If you haven't been in the actual situation, playing "chicken" with our legal system, then your "research" means dick. The internet is also full of African princes that are dying of cancer and want to give you some of their money...

That being said, I think you were one of the few from out of state not slapping assumptions onto the OP, and I don't think you were actually hurting him or his circumstance either.

Oops. While I've tried to avoid making any assumptions as to what the thread-starter has done, I did assume that you, like one of the other Washingtonians, was ragging on me. I probably should keep my comments on butchering the English language to a minimum. The real point of that particular post was almost definitely lost in the "noise." For those keeping score at home, the important point was that a charge of reckless in WA does not require that there be any other simultaneous or related infraction, in contrast to what someone else said.

As to my experiences, I was traffic cop in Baltimore in the 1980s. My driving record is now clean, but wasn't always. The single most important suggestion (that's been made several time) is to get a lawyer for anything this dramatic. That Jeannie What's-her-name lady has a great reputation it seems in WA. Bet she's expensive, tho'.
