Test pipe and brake pads

Hey guys, i typically wouldn't post stuff like this but i am having a hell of a time finding a test pipe for my exhaust.

I have a perrin downpipe, High flow cat and catback and can't seem to find a test pipe for it, i was even thinking about just gutting the cat but i would prefer not to.

another thing I'm a little on the edge about are brake pads, it seems as if there are far too many choices out there. the ones i have on it now work well, they were done by the dealership the day i bought it and are aftermarket but thats all i know about them, they make a TON of noise and a TON of brake dust. I have obviously lived with it but would like a good pad with lots of stopping power lots of street driving and some track.

Anyone have any suggestions???

As for brake pads, you're right, there are a lot available, many very good. Do a search and you'll find lots of threads.

Yo dude, i've got hawk hps brake pads. Not really a track pad but perfect for street. Minimum noise and alot less brake dust then track pads. Hit me up!

not to block your sale or anything but im just saying ive had 2 complete sets of the hawk pads...

the first one didnt so much "squeek" like your would expect a ceramic pad to but it more like "SCREAMED" at me.

So I called up, and had them send me a new set and sent in those thinking it was just a defective batch (it happens no big deal). The 2nd set were cracked straight out of the box...so i called and just got a refund.

In my opinion...brembo pads are the way to go

That's just my .02

When I first started road racing my IX I ran girodisc magic pads (they are local as well). They held up fine on a 1.8 mile road course that didn't have alot of straights or heavy braking. If you are new those pads are nice, just change out to good brake fluid like the Motul RBF 600. Another option I have run is the Axxis ULT pads. They are good on the street and make a good beginner track pad. They are also inexpensive through nopi.

You will have to make compromises somewhere when choosing pads. The magic pads are quiet and dont dust much, but also don't take a bunch of heat. This is also true for the stock pads.

Whatever you do, don't go with a full out track pads. Some will eat up rotors, some will dust like crazy, and some will not stop when cold. Most track newbies will not get the pads up to operating temp and will not get the full benefit of track pads.

Read this, it should help

The best option would be to have two sets of pads, one for street one for track. Finally, stay away from Racing brake if you are actually tracking it. Multiple people including myself have killed pads in a weekend, some slower some faster. One local went through a set in a weekend in the rain, which is horrible wear.

I currently run magic pads on the street and Carbotech XP12/XP10 on the track with Motul RBF600 fluid.

Yeah nah forsure that's weird. Were they the HPS or HP+? I have the HP+ on right now and they barely squeak. And they are said to be louder then the HPS.

Forsure don't get full on track pads though, street driving isn't even enough to heat the suckers up for full stopping power

I have the HPS and they are noisy. They eat discs pretty quick as well.

I use Autozone ceramics for street use, they stop great, wear even, and so far no noise. They don't sell the same ceramic for the rears so I got some brand of ceramics @ O'Reilly, and they seem to work fine. I thought the rear OE were breaking down but they still had plenty of life, just squeaky. Since the change, no noise back there either.

I'm not sure what I would run at the track, but given what I've read of Hawk pads, I probably wouldn't go there. I would definitely run a different pad though, especially since they are so easy to change.

I'm not sure which type of connecting piece is on the end of the Perrin DP but you could also have a shop weld the corresponding piece you need to whatever TP you want to go with.

Dang thanks guys, i am trying to stay away form the hawk pad due to what i heard and experienced. I am leaning toward the EBC redstuff or blue stuff. i need to pull a caliper to see if i can figure out what the dealership put on it. As for the test pipe i am ordering that stm one asap.
