knocking in my engine!! help!!

Idk if there was a thread already made about this or not but if there is please guide me in the right direction.

Yesterday I got off the fwy and I heard this knocking in my engine bay and its pretty loud. Checked my oil and I noticed I was a bit low so I filled it up hoping that was the problem and the knocking will go away but its still there...I'm praying its nothing major but with my luck it probably is

So if anybody knows what it is or a pretty good guess I would appreciate the help

Thanks,
Daniel

LOL @ "Danial"

Dan, I told you that you need to flush that 5W-30 GTX out and get a thicker oil in there. I wouldn't run anything less than 10W-30, especially at your HP. Its probably lifter tick unless it sounds like its coming from the block.

Hit up TJ about what I talked to you about yesterday or go to Napa in Tumwater if you cant make it up north to meet with him.

They sound completely different, hence the nomenclature: lifter tick, rod knock.

Determine what you think it really sounds like, and go from there. FWIW if you're on stock block and making over 450whp on a used car/engine, I'd start looking for a new engine. And a bottle of Aha Toro.

get a stethoscope and start probing around untill you hear it. it will give a better idea of where to begin. let us know when you find out. I am curious.

No, not kidding. Castrol GTX 5W-30. I told him to drain it asap and get some thicker lube in there. By the sounds of it, its probably too late.

I've spun a rod bearing many years ago. If the sound progressively gets worse, you most likely spun a bearing. Did you over rev at any time?
