Need engine lift
long story short, GF was driving home two nights ago and went to hit the gas after cruising down a hill and had no throttle response. Took off valve cover to make sure my prediction was right (cam wasn't spinning with the starter) and you can see the result below.

Lookin for two things now: an engine hoist and a new engine. Right now I'm just thinking of going the junkyard route, but figured someone on here might have a connection to score me a new engine (D15B7) for cheap. Craigslist is around 200-300 so I would like to not spend more than that. Trying to keep with the stock engine so that it bolts right up and no tune/ecu swap/etc is needed
The second thing I need is an engine hoist...I haven't talked to napa it O'reillys yet to see if they loan them, but when I last looked a year or so ago they weren't
If you can help me in either of these manners, I'd love you, otherwise remember: timing belts are important!

Didn't know the previous owner hadn't changed it. I wasn't in her life when she got the car 6-7 years ago, and just never thought of it. She got it at 110k or so and it has 145k now (I wish my car only got 5-6k miles a year on it)
Who is Andrew?

but you cant just "replace the cylinder head"
just replacing the head means you need to machine the block as well. that means engine has to come out

also if he gets a used head he has to machine the head as well and have it pressure check bla bla bla
so yeah, just an engine swap

FX11 has pretty much the right idea. in order for most anything to happen inside the engine, all the attached stuff has to be removed and the engine come out. at that point, a new engine is ~$200, the timing belt can be checked and replaced with the engine out, and then just drop it in.

I'll let you know - I think I'm going to take the head off later. I can't see far enough down the spark plug holes to see if the valves touched (see if carbon buildup on the pistons was knocked off by the valves. Either way, I think that will be the safest way to figure this out. If I end up buying a new engine I will be in contact for sure, if I just buy a new head then I think I'm man enough to lift it into place...haha
If anyone knows any other tricky way to check if valves touched it'd be cool, but I can't think of anything aside from just buckling down and pulling the head
