Or, there's always the option of run-flats. Get rid of the spare completely!
That's something a lot of manufacturers are doing now. Our Hyundai's had 12V air pumps and cans of fix a flat in a styrofoam mold where the spare tire is. It frees up weight, and as long as you have the roadside assistance and hazard warratny coverage you shouldn't need a spare. I mean, the only purpose is to get you safely to a tire shop to get the bad tire fixed, so cut out the weight and drama and use your roadside assistance. I took my spare out of my car and while that compartment is not sound dampened, some DynoMat or Stinger deadening material will do the trick to button it up. And it creates some "out of the way" storage options as well.
Yes. Those are the fixed points. If you got the OEM kit you'd be able to slide your rails back and forth.
I dont think you can. Even with the OEM kit, I do believe it uses those fixed points and are not able to slide back and forth as if they were on a track or rail system. The distance between the cross bars is fixed.
Can anyone take a picutre of where the OEM Mounts?
I looked and couldn't find them. I have the side rails.
I will have another look tonight but if someone has a picture they can post up by tonight that would be helpful!
My rig is a 14 RVR

Hello there, does anyone have one of this kind of Cross Bars
I recently purchased a set of those but I'm having hard time mouting the bracket on the rail. The screw caps they provide do not fully go into the hole on the rail. I'm not sure what to do. Please see image below
thank you for the input... I followed how "Texas Travisty" had his installed, I managed to have mine insalled as well....YES, I did have to hammer those caps into the holes...WTH.
both the mounting bracket (made of thick ABS plastic) and the screw caps has a pretty stupid design. once you have it installed, they pretty much stay there, it's hard to have them unstalled really, well, not without some real effort... but I dig the look of it... so..
And I just use them to hold my snowboard up like twice a year... I don't wanna spend like CAD$499.99 for a pair of Thule.... but they are solid after screwed them on...
