[Solved!!!] Rear Wiper Blade Replacement?
[Solved!!!] Rear Wiper Blade Replacement?
Mine decided to stop being useful as of this morning, anyone found a compatible replacement online? Dealer wants over $25...
It's a 10" blade, with a J-Hook style clip, but not the same clip as the front blades...

From what I can tell, the wiper holds a standard size narrow blade with twin metal support rails...
I suggest you just buy yourself a 20" narrow refill ($3.97 @ PepBoys or Walmart) and trim it down to 10", you'll have enough for two. And, just reuse those metal rails!

Smart idea! I noticed the rubber starting to split on mine after 2 years, it's the frosted windows during winter that wear them down fast.
Whilst shopping for blades for my moms Equinox (because hers are way past done), I stumbled upon this:
http://www.boschautoparts.com/NPC/Do...lease_0613.pdf
So, I went to the "parts finder", put in the Outlander Sport, and they offer a few new blades for us, including a rear: H306 - OE Style ( Link )
I am not convinced, however, because our OEM is 10", and under the specs it claims this one is 12". I'm about 99% certain that I tried a 12" blade at AutoZone when I was searching, and established that it was too long to clear the spoiler. It MIGHT have been a 13", but I'm pretty sure it was 12". I think an 11" would fit though, if you could find one.
Arm type is "RocLock 3"

EDIT: Yup, I was right. I checked the thread I made on another
forum, and found this:
So the new Bosch offering will NOT work!

The Outlander Sport cannot fit a 12" blade, it hits the spoiler/ third brake light. No retail outlets (off internet, really) carry or even make a 10-B or 11-B arm. After visiting pep boys, auto zone, Napa, and Car Quest, after spending HOURS looking online, I ended up buying a full size blade insert and re-using the OEM plastic arm and I also reused the OEM metal strips in the rubber. Then I just cut the rubber of the new blade to the correct length and inserted it. A brand new wiper blade for under $6 with tax.
I'm going to keep my eyes open for a nice 11" replacement though, I'd like to have the little extra visibility

The problem you face with trying to find a longer blade for that rear wiper is the wiper-arm; the design of it just prevents you from putting anything longer because of the molded-in blade-stops. It blocks you from even using Modified blades. (Unless you're willing to Dremel it flush, that is...)

Will definitely use this thread for a useful resource when that time comes! Thanks for posting and thinking outside of the box, even though, we're stuck with the OEM length.

LUNAR, I'm still actively working on a solution. Unfortunately, the rear wiper blade market isn't exactly fast-paced lol.

@Burton
Per your request.
This is what I'm talking about (at least on the 2013 Outlander Sports - Rear Wiper. Not sure if ASX or RVR has this...) >
You can see there's a small "end tab/nub" that's molded in with the wiper arm that's retaining the wiper blade (it's on both ends of the arm)

So, even if you find (or make) a "Longer" blade that's 11" or 12" it would not fit... UNLESS you're willing to Dremel (or file down) that nub off. But, that would create other issues, such as having the blade possibly fall/slide out of the wiper arm when in operation.

Ok, so your pictures got me all confused, because I actually tried a 13" one on, so I checked today, and I was all like "WTF, mine has that tab too". BUT, I figured it out lol

The tab is attached to the structure of the replaceable portion of the blade. I was able to replace just the rubber rubber insert by trimming a generic one, but if you purchase a normal replacement blade, it will replace the entire structure, unlike some other cars I've seen, such as the Chevy Equinox.

11" Wipers proof of concept, and one step closer!

Old 10" wiper lying on top of the new 11" wiper. 11" is attached to the wiper arm.

Blade clears the 3rd brake light by about 1/2 an inch. Just enough to leave some wiggle room, but close enough to make me happy.

Now, the issues: What I bought:

The red arrow points to the adapter I received, the green points to the one I need. I had expected to receive all 4, and even the back of the packaging leads me to believe that I was SUPPOSED to receive all 4. I'll be contacting the manufacturer tomorrow.
It SHOULD be doable though, you can see how close it is:

Old blade next to new blade w/ no adapter

Old blade next to new blade w/ the incorrect adapter that I received

For anyone thinking this is overkill, the extra inch adds a substantial amount of cleaned window.

Very nice work.
I like your illustration.
Someone really cheated you of the right adaptor!
I just wished they could have made these wiper arms a bit more "lower profile" though. The thing is so "tall" now, it's practically an armrest for snow & ice to accumulate > Winter is Coming.
I personally like Audi's design of their rear wipers >
