In fact, we had to in a very similar situation, LINK
Yeah if smell a hint of BS it'll be lawyer time and I know they'll want to avoid that!

At least a cop was willing to come out for the report. My mom got rear ended in her suv and the cop goes "if nobody is hurt you dont need me there" which is when she demanded a police officer to ensure the guys insurance license etc checked out. The guy picked up a portion of her bumper and put it in his prius ato try and play off hercar had no damage

yeah.. just a little bit more.
We were both very lucky to have survived that. Thank God. -Considering immediately after the hit, we were pushed across another 4 lanes of moving traffic (that were all traveling at highway speeds also & No one else hit us.)

Make sure you take a lot of photos of the location AND road conditions, ie: the intersection, any skid marks, street lights/signs, etc. (just to have a clear & detail picture of the area.)

I was able to look under the rear end today. Doesn't appear to be a lot of damage(from what I could see) underneath. I don't think it'll be totaled but I have very little experience in how much these repairs like this cost. Cant open the hood. Looks like it's popped but if you try to pop it, it does nothing. I'm not going to try to open the hatch because I am certain it will not close back!

Possible front subframe bent or just the hood is wedged.

She's doing well. She was sore for a few days. Found out the driver at fault has Safe Auto Insurance. That didn't thrill me because I assume they have bare minimum coverage. Body shop said they're a pain to deal with as well. Thanks for asking. I'll definitely keep this updated as everything plays out.

Update! Got the car back this past Saturday! Body shop had a number of issues with getting the right parts from Mitsubishi. Thanks for all the advice!

IS that so...?
>> Translation: What they really mean - They didn't like the "costs" the Mitsu dealer was charging them verses what they are use to paying (at an off-brand supplier) or can get at a scrap yard...

Hopefully you and the wife are pleased with the repairs..
Welcome back to the clan.

Happy New Year!

They still used parts from the dealer, the dealer sent them the wrong parts like 4 times or something. Failure to communicate on someone's part!

Ah.. One of those...
Funny. Either it was Butter fingers (at the keyboard) or no one cared to check the part that's being sent out (4X), aye.

Well.. At least you weren't in the hospital awaiting a kidney transplant with these dealer folks as your doctor!
> Ooops, we ordered and sewed in the wrong organ!

No kidding. Apparently they were having to actually take pictures and send to the dealer in order to get the part right. Then they may send a left when a right is needed. We were aggravated but at that point what can you do? The bodyshop said there were a handful of makes that they commonly have issues with.
