ASC Function

Hi, I'm from Indonesia. From where I come from, ASC feature is removed to decrease the selling price. I've been thinking about installing this feature in my Outlander Sport.

The problem is, the price of this modification is quite expensive. I have to make sure this feature is really worth of the price. Can anybody share the opinion about this feature? Is it worth for Outlander Sport or are they right to remove this feature to decrease the price?

Motola,
That's a tough question to answer..
Mainly due to the fact the system involves the anti-lock braking... If done (DIY) incorrectly, you'll won't really know until an accident happens (or it interferes with some other system operation when something critical occurs.)

Also, the lost of traction most likely happens in rain storms or some other severe inclement weather situations (ex: in snow/ice, not sure if you guys get blizzards there) which you should be driving more carefully in (or completely avoid, if possible) anyways... instead of relying on ASC...

> Now unless you have to/must drive at high speeds all the time (like on the autobahn) than to have an ASC may be very necessary/beneficial.

Well, those are my thoughts on the matter.

Hope it helped.

There's always a risk of any modifications if done incorrectly. But we've already done many modifications here. I've done many cruise control's activation for Outlander Sport and so far no complaint from the owner (we don't have cruise control in stock). I also own 1999 Galant and you'll be surprised that so many owners have swapped the engine to Galant VR-4, including 4WD/AYC with TC/SC. That's what I call real modification. Swaps are difficult but if done right make impressive cars.

Suppose I don't make mistake like you are worry about, I really like to know about this ASC capable of to my Outlander Sport. I know this feature is standard for OS in US. Do you feel it's really useful and worth for my OS? I'm surprised that Honda All New City (sedan version of Honda Fit) is launched this week and find out that VSA (Honda version of ASC) is standard. They never do this before for 1.500 cc cars. They use it for Civic but only the 2.000cc or the highest version. And the fact that Honda sells All New City in the same price with OS is making me crazy.

I see..
Well, if you have the confidence and experience with those similar mods, then I fully support your efforts.

From my personal experience-
I have only seen/felt the ASC kick in ONLY once**, when I was taking a left turn at an intersection and I guess the streets was slick (in one spot that I didn't see) and our vehicle started to slide laterally side ways. It caught itself before I even realized what was happening. So, I suppose it was worth it.

**But, how knows IF it was the tires catching grip again or the ASC...
