Dropping Wheel Size to base model stats - Does it Screw With the Computer?

Hey everyone - I have an 2012 outlander sport ES, and want to drop to the base model size wheel and tire combo. SO a change from from the stock 225/55/15 to the stock base model size of 215/70/16. I just talked to my dealership and I think I got some numb nutt on the phone because he said that I would get all kinds of errors with the computer and risk strain on the trans ect because the the vehicle is set up for 18" wheels. The base model combo of a 16" wheel is essentiality the same size as the size thats on the car now - just a different set up. Does this sound legit, or some dude just blowing hot air?
