I've had an intermittent problem where sometimes when I remove my key from the ignition and shut the door the car will think the key is still in place and will not lock.

Starting and then shutting off the engine as this 'clears' the error and I can then lock the car as normal.

Has anyone else experienced this? It's happening more frequently so I'll have to make a trip to the dealership but with it being hard to replicate I've been reluctant.

Simple, make a recording of the problem when it occurs then show it to them. (Remember to post it here too.)

But, most likely the ignition cylinder is getting flakey.

 

Ha yeah, I'll try remembering to video myself removing the key each time until I get this annoying thing on camera
