Anyone install Chrome Grille Trim?

I am thinking of installing the chrome surround on my RVR front grill. Like what is on the GT. Has anyone done this? It seems as though it merely sticks on via 3M adhesive over the existing black trim. I'd probably get the OEM rather than the Chinese knockoffs. Of course I'll ship it in since the dealer wants me to get a second mortgage on the house to get it from them.

Black or chrome. I guess one could Plasti-Dip or Krylon Fusion the black one, but I am after the chrome version.

Are you talking about the chrome piece you see here?

Yup! and that be the look I am after, but with yellow tinted fogs. Did you Plasti-dip the center grille bar? Or wrap?

Gents,
There is a difference not only in stile but also in the way you put on the chrome grille between the 11-12 and 13-15 versions. CottageLifer has an 11 model and robthezombie has posted a picture of the 13-15 grill. The grill that fits to the 13-15 is a one piece one and can be glued in with 3M tape. The one that fits to the 11-12 model years contains four pieces (unlike the one piece black grill surround that is found in the lower trim models). You have to remove first the black surround (attached by screws from the back) and should apply screws to attach the four piece chrome grill surround.
Here is the image that will guide you. The lower left corner you see your current black surround and the upper left corner shows the four piece chrome surround. The same screws hold them in places.
Hope this helps.

CottageLifer, you might want to contact scottiebigman, who wants the exact opposite as you. You may just swap pieces. Apparently he has also the first generation ASX just like your RVR.
Here is the thread he started about this:

FYI: I have painted mine with plastidip twice (currently it is silver).

Thanks! I will have to look into the ease of replacement. Looks like Mits OEM will be about $300 US for all four pieces (forget what the local dealer wants!!) or about half that using replacement parts. I think Scottie is in the UK, NO? Shipping is generally insane to the other side of the pond but I will think about it. Might want to keep both...

I plasti dipped the front bar.. Im trying to black mine out but these have some trim that is a pain to dip. I still havent quite figured out how to remove the chrome piece. it seems to be held in quite well. It doesnt sound like our pieces would swap between my 15 and your 11 or id do that.

It always works that way. If you find out that they fit I would swap you. That is if i can figure out how to remove the pesky thing

Sadly, the 2011 and 2015 do not appear to be interchangeable, and if they were it would be costly to ship the 1-piece up north. I do have the factory body repair manuals so I'll look at them on the weekend.

As most people want to black out the center grille piece, I kinda want my black one body-colored.
