Got some progress on it with a break in the weather today. Put the AVS vent visors on it, Got the rear De-badged, (there's a body "divot" in the back and it's "inset" where the triple D's go) I also took off the engine cover, gonna do some paint work on the diamonds and I think I'm going to use all the lettering I took off the back, paint it the same as the diamonds and it'll spell "outlandish".

Got an idea as to where I'll put an oil catch can to vent the intake side and maybe the vent at the intake tube. (working on changing that out to tubing) Also took out the intake snorkel and removed the "giant" what ever baffle thingy on the top. WTF on that Mitsu??? Used a dremel with C/O wheel, cleaned it up, and siliconed a stainless disk I had (from the lazer cutter) inside and out. Looks SOOO much better.

I got some samples of what color Purple to put on it and accent stuff, engine bay, etc... Let me know what you think??? I'm leaning to #2 first choice, and #1 second choice. (to also cover the Chrome trim)
pics show the work, and the baffle on the intake tube that'll get removed, and the fuse cover that will get some color treatment. On to the show. lol

Prep'd and hit with Dupliclor adhesion promotor,,,, Yes it will.
I already gave it a go with the wifes 14 model when I did some blackout of the chrome on the front grill and a custom Green on the emblems for her. Turned out better than Plastidip, and is still going strong after 1 1/2yrs.

I'll take out the chrome pieces to get them done right. (pulling the front fascia again to access the trim screws)Probably wont be till spring till I get a decent chance to do it, but that's OK. I got time.

I like #2, but also like #1 since it looks like it'll be more of a subtle change from the body color. I worry that #1 might look out of place.

Installed the RRM timing controller today before going to work.
not a whole lot of difference in the way it idles or runs, but I can tell the difference it the RPM's when hitting the gas and power output to the ground when taking off is noticeable too. More responsive....

Plug N Play is as easy as it gets. The mounting in the engine bay is "simple".
Plugs are slightly different on the 2016 model, (outer shape) but they still hook up and connect in the same way. Super easy to do. I did it while the even was heating up to crisp some eggrolls. lol
I'll get some pics of the install and how it's mounted. It looks like it's meant to be in the engine bay, and if I ever needed to quick connect back to stock, I could just undo it and ziptie the harness connections out of the way.

At highway speeds, it feels smoother and passing "pedal down" is quicker, not so I4 feeling. Not enough to make you think you've got the V6 but noticeably better than stock. We'll see how the MPG's go over the next week. (just filled up with identical full tank as last time)

RRM Timing controller for the 2.4 Lancer I can attest "WILL" work on the 2.4L of the SOHC Outlander or Outlander Sport. It is currently on my 2016 Outlander SE, 2.4, S-AWC with NO issues....

Here is a video (shaking but usable) showing the installation for Lancer.

MPG's aren't that far off from each other either, but the V6 is requiring premium fuel to do it. I already use Premium in the previous turbo car, and it's doing well in the wifes Big O, so we'll see how it does in the new one. I see a difference in power and MPG's in her 2.4, so since she was happy with the lil 4 banger mill in hers and the 16 model is a bit peppier than it, I'm fine with adding some bolt ons and just driving the crap out of it. (although I wouldn't mind the paddle shifting 6 speed trans over the CVT)
Now with the RRM timing controller you have to use premium fuel (at least according to Lancer owners):

Here's the RRM (Road Race Motorsports) page on their Timing Controller.

And their page of products that are geared towards the 2.4.

Home page for all their other products.

As for the premium fuel, I'm OK with that. I use it anyway, and there's a noticeable difference in performance and the way it runs.

Timing controller mounted. Pics included.
This thing is a good addition for a lil noticeable zip in response. Box without the RRM sticker looks just like anther part of the engine bay that belongs there. Connections are simple and I only needed one zip tie to secure the harness. The controller plugs in just to the left looking down by the alternator and the plug pulls off right at the manifold. (shown in the pics) simply plug the stock connector into the harness, and same style plug connector from the new harness back into the plug at the manifold. There is a nice spot for the control box on the front of the radiator support/chassis. The 2 sided automotive tape is enough to hold it in place, but you could always add a few screws (or drill and pop rivet) to the chassis.
Controller has been working well for 2 weeks now with NO issues, running 91oct. MPG's haven't changed from either "NORMAL" mode or "ECO".
Normal is better in town for performance, ECO, is still good on the Hwy with noticeable improvement in acceleration merging from the on ramps.

I got the windows' tinted the other day. Not the greatest pics (dammm winter weather) Got a nice banner portion on the front windshield, didn't go to dark on the fronts but it's better than the plain glass.

I also went looking for something to put the owners manual in. I was going to check for something at a local yard, but ended up finding a used Cambridge day planner at a GoodWill (thrift store) that's a few blocks from our house. This works "perfect" and only cost $2. There were 2 allen screws that held the page binder inside it, I took out the binder portion and Ta Da. nice leather case for all the car "stuff", ins. card, registration, etc. to fit it all nice and neat.
One of the things I like about the Outlander, is the lil shelf in the glove box. The planner fits nice and snug and it's better than most of the ones you get with higher end cars.

Since I'm going with a RED on Blurple look, I got the idea to play with some paint on the rear emblem and see what I could do to make it look, like a galaxy or layered with molten lava. (not really sure what to call it..... maybe just jacked up paint???)
Here's what I got to and where I ended up.

I used some purple over the chrome, then used Chrome paint, (there's a reason for that) then did some RED chrome spray over that. I ended up using the lid and dragging it across the top, after is set up a bit a hit with some enamel clear. I'll clear it again a couple times probably before it's ready, but here's the end result.
The wife says it looks like a fleshy emblem, but it's different.
I'll try and mimic the same effect on the front one.

License plate frames.
Paint used for some nice effects. Might have to start some interior pieces and see how it goes.
