The down side is that it is probably no longer a true CVT (must somehow suggest that is "shifting" and not droning to please people that is the feel part). Nissans are known to have CVTs that appear to be shifting (I drove a Rogue).

It would be interesting to hear from people like CottageLifer, who has both RVR and Pathfinder and FROM BMX RACR, who drove side by side a 13 and a 15 model year OSs.
The above would explain why Nissan has much more problems with their tuned JATCO CVTs. That could also mean that shifting (may even be paddle shifting) is adversely effecting longevity.
This last paragraph here is pure speculation based on some facts though.

I barely remember testing driving the Juke..
At the time I didn't think much about the "simulated" shifting of their CVT, but now that I've watched the video above...
That's absolutely stupid thing to do to make/force a CVT to do that. They should have just stuck with their original 4 speed trans.

No wonder there's a higher rate of failure in their CVT vehicles.
Glad we didn't go with a Nissan!
