Looking for an Iginition ON Hot Wire Under Dash

Before I go poking around under the dash with the DVM , does anyone have a suggestion where I can get access to a 12V when runnign wire? Want to wire in my Valentine One radar detector. TIA!

about the easiest 1 to tie into would be the back of the lighter next to the shifter

use a fuse tap on an ignition-switched circuit.

I know I can use a tap, but the wiring kit comes with a clamp-on and is low draw. I think the cigarette light is a good idea - just have to run wire to it.

You could also check for hot wire behind the dome light that would go to the auto-dim mirror it should be a yellow wire . That way no extra wires running up the dash

Don't have an auto-dimming mirror. Yet. Plus the detector wiring kit is fused and I like that idea.

even without the auto-dim mirror it could still have the wire up there , the mirror is a port installed option so the harness should still be up there . it is on the same fuse circuit as the cig lighters .

Then I shall look. Plan os to put a dimming Homelink mirror up there one of these days, and not having to run power to it (and being able to wire in the detector) would be an added bonus! Will have to look at the diagrams to see how to disassemble that region. Thanks for the tip!
