Average fuel consumption set to manual mode

I just recently purchased a 2013 mRVR SE 4WD and am trying set the average fuel consumption to manual reset mode in the settings menu. I am able to change it temporarily but it won't stick and it reverts back to auto reset mode every 4 hours. Is there a way to keep the average fuel consumption in manual reset mode?

That's the way to reset it. Hold the info button til it resets. The mpg is ALWAYS going to change based on driving habits. So it's always going to increase/decrease.

Nas, Thanks for replying. I don't want the average fuel consumption to reset to 0 mpg every morning. I want the average fuel consumption to display for a longer period of time until I want to reset it. Is there any way to do this?

Not sure you can keep it as an ongoing average if this is what you want.
My previous car (Skoda Yeti) had 2 averages you could display, one like the ASX/Outlander that reset after a few hours of inactivity and a second which continued as a long term average mpg until it was manually reset.
I found it quite useful to see what mpg you were getting over a longer period and was disappointed that my ASX doesn't appear to have this function.

One must program the ETACS to avoid the average fuel consumption to reset. Yes, the default is to reset after 4 hours the engine turned off. I am not aware whether the dealer can program it with MUT III. I used Diagbox program with Actia interface to program a couple of things including this. It can also be done with the newer ETACS Decoder program. If you are not prepared for a month of intensive learning I suggest rather to find someone in your neighborhood to perform this programming for you. The member list in the ETACS Decoder forum is no longer available but you may post a request there whether you find someone near Winnipeg. Good luck.

yeah, Mitsu mpg display is pretty stupid.

on my current car, it has two - one in the gauge cluster, and one on the center display (if you care to show it), and they operate independently.

i reset the one in the gauge cluster at each fill up, so i can see the mpg for that tank of gas.

http://etacsdecoder.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=37 Lists cable owners. BTW, there are a ton or RVRs in Winnipeg! Was through there recently and was shocked at how many I saw on the roads.

Thank you for the correction. At some point when a lot of info was achieved at the site I seemed not to locate the cable owners registration thread.

I'll ask the dealer whether their MUTS can change this setting. They are wont to do things like this and of course I have already learned that some of the settings (like door lock/unlock) can't be changed by the dealer.
