Eclipse Cross
Anyone see this yet? Seems kind of redundant with the Outlander Sport.
Local dealer said it fits between the OS and Big O sizewise, but it looks about the same interior-space as an OS to me.
i think the exterior is better than the Big O, though. lots of gadgets and gizmos (HUD!)

haha! i guess i forgot about it, given how Mitsu likes to pump out concept vehicles that never see production.
still not crazy about the "Aztek" rear spoiler.

A surprisingly positive review (from a journalist)

I welcome the presence of not only direct but port injection. This will help to lower/minimize carbon deposition.

IMPRESSIVE Tests!!!
I wouldn't have believed this small chassis can take some of those strikes (small frontal-offset and the full-front hits) and Not show hardly any main body deformation from the A pillar back.. the windshield didn't even crack!
Along with all the door jams staying near plum.
That's amazing!

Usually when companies carry over the name to a newer model, there are some features that are carried over. The only visuals that remind me of the Eclipse name are the side mirrors (3g eclipse), and the tail lights (2g eclipse). I I kinda like the new Eclipse Cross besides the chrome trims.

i posted this in an Eclipse Cross forum, but it seems to be a ghost town (and its the busier of the 2 EC forums i found LOL) ...
"Where is the ACD pump located on the Eclipse Cross?
Is it going to be prone to failure (like on my Evo)? I assume it will be covered under powertrain warranty, but my mom may get an EC, and if she does, I want to make sure its coated in Fluid Film yearly if its in a vulnerable place. The one that failed in my Evo looked like it sat at the bottom of the ocean for 50 years."
if anyone with a big Outlander, or an EC knows, i'd appreciate any help.

For reference you may revisit the AWD modes discussed earlier (#6) here:
AWD modes
The updated Outlander S-AWC has Active Yaw Control (AYC) that was only available earlier in the Ralliart and EVO (both containing ACD).
For reference check out Mitsubishi's description here (EC is not listed though):

Most likely the Eclipse Cross (EC) does not even have an Active Center Differential (ACD). It inherited the Outlander's and not the EVO's S-AWC system.

the Eclipse Cross looked just like my Evo did, with AUTO, SNOW, and GRAVEL mode. i was expecting it to be like the OS's ( FWD, AUTO, LOCK), but it wasnt. i wouldnt expect them to design a completely different system, but who knows?

Nomen est omen - This vehicle delivers what the Eclipse Cross name envisions
I am sure many people expected something like the one featured in the clip below with the name. There is English subtitle.

Hell Yeah!
NOW That is what I called a proper Mitsu Eclipse Cross!!
. Why did it take a Russian DIY-er to make such an awesome little beast?

Why spit on the name
I was looking at these yesterday at the dealership while my '15 OS was getting checked out. My thing is, Why even call it an Eclipse? Just give the thing it's own name. When they first announced it (before seeing it), I was already turned off, by them trying to make the eclipse name a crossover.
It's kinda like calling the OS "SPORT", when it's really just the OS "Small". The OS should have been it's own thing too!
I like the interior, but it looks like a OS with the Pontiac Aztec slapped on the end. I do like the interior though.
Mitsubishi had another chance to do something cool (like they could have done with a more powerful OS) with this, but they keep insisting on under powering their vehicles. I'd be happy if they even did a Ralliart level of power in these mini crossovers.
