OS down and gone.

I owned my outlander sport since it was new, purchased it in 2013. She lasted me just shy of 200k, without any real issues then the CVT went out on my way to work on Monday. She was towed to the dealer and traded in that day, obviously because the costs to repair was way over what you should spend on a car with 200k. It was a great car other than the CVT, which I have never liked to be honest. It feels weird to be without it now, almost feel like I lost a family pet. Anyway I will hopefully be back to this forum at some point when I can pick up another evo in the future, but first up is a new house!

New/Used vehicle is a 2018 Hyundai Elantra. Great for a commuter and no CVT, just not as comfortable as my OS.

Did the Dealership tell you what happened to the CVT?

What was your maintenance routine with the CVT during the time you owned it?

sorry to hear. any car that makes it over 100k, let alone almost 200k, with no issues i'd consider a win.

makes me feel better considering my wife's 2015 has about 15k on it.

Basic service intervals. I think 9 months ago was the last time is was drained and filled locally at which time my trusted shop said they were not sure how much longer it would go. I spoke with transmission shops at this time looking for a used or reman and they were non-existent. I checked again once the trans went. The local shop looked through all his channels and said he couldn't get parts currently and was working on another one. He said to rebuild or reman one it would be about $6k total. I did not even have them diagnose it, wasn't worth the extra $$ when it goes pop and you coast into a gas a station with no gears forward or reverse, you just know. I worked for mitsu for a while in parts, and I have modified cars for a long time now. Think of it just free spinning even faster than just being in neutral but while in gear. It was a great car, I drive hard and most of miles are on the highway at 70-80mph average. This is my second mitsu that has made it above 185k without any issue other than basic maintenance.

The Mitsubishi engines last forever but they are riddled with transmission problems. That's why I got a manual!! And sourcing a spare out of a 2008-2011 lancer...
