Really don't need to gap the IX iridiums, they come pregapped. Technically they aren't suppose to be gapped either. I would honestly replace it since you can get them at Westbay for like $9-10 a plug.

yeah I noticed that, out of all the plugs I had one wasn't pre-gapped, so I tried to shorten the gap, went too far brought it back up and it snapped

I'd replace it if I were you. If I understand you correctly you say part of the electrode broke off? That could cause spark blowout or misfires and really don't want that.

Wrong. You can and SHOULD gap your Iridiums. What counts is HOW you gap your iridiums.

Straight from Denso,

"Install note: The iridium center electrode is very thin. Unlike a conventional plug, you cannot gap the plug by sandwiching a gap tool between the electrode and the ground strap, then pushing on the ground strap. The hard electrode will dig into the gap tool, and when you remove the gap tool, you'll break the electrode. Instead, adjust the ground strap by tapping it on a hard surface, or by pulling it gently with a tool; then measure the gap using your gap tool."

This is the way I have always gapped plugs...so it's no surprise.

I'll probably be there, but I live about 10 mins away so it's a little easier.

Great, I live in Pullman, planning to go to the FATT with my friends. However, this is the first track experience for me in USA, so I have already sent an email to Adare Motorsports to ask for instructor availability

The sets I have bought all come pregrapped at .022-.024. IIRC manual calls for something like .022. Really no need to modify the gap unless they are wrong or running something like a ton of boost. I have 3 sets and they all came gapped the same. Work fine for me at 26psi. Guess its personal preference.

Are you going to get standard or widetank? A 3.5in would be plenty if you aren't doing anything major. A 4.0in is really overkill for anything smaller than a 35R (in my opinion atleast) and you lose airflow to the radiator. If you plan to race on a roadcourse that could possibly cause problems. Are you still planning on a TA build?

Whats wrong with your AMS? Do you just want a gold ic? At the end of the day I would keep your AMS...it has the best inlet/outlet location for air distribution across the core and its core size is plenty for the hp you will probably see. If if made it on their TA car for years then I am sure its fine for your car imo.
