Oh you have the HD? Curious as this is the clutch I was gonna buy. How you like it? Feel pretty close to stock? I never launch my car or drag race so only need it to hold 400whp.
so far so good. if you think you will never lauch, drag race, then this is perfect for you. i got it from map for a great price too.
i regret not going to a stronger clutch so i can go drag racing more (so i can worry less about beating on it), but it might be really strong enough for the gf to hate the car a lot.
i got sold on exedy when i talked to one of their representative at their booth exhibit down at the formula d. he gave me a lot of info on their clutch, and most importantly the comparison between act. i suggest you go on the website to find out more info... Exedy FTW
I talked to Exedy and MAP about it already since most only have the regular STG1 and not the HD. So I have the specs and such. Just waiting until the stocker bites the dust...but as much as I drive the car could be awhile
Still dont understand why people say this. many users have ACT clutches without issue.
JoeyB has had his ACT for over 25,000 miles and it was in good shape when he installed a TRE built tranny last month.
Perhaps the comment should be used specifically when coupled with "if you want to run >400ish HP, >350 wheel TQ then dont choose the ACT."

ACT's bad rep is mainly because of the quality in their products, such as their sprung discs have gone down the drain. For many it's been hit or miss with sprung discs, as the springs have a tendency to break and fall out of the disc during use.

I can bring up multiple pictures of broken rotas (or Volk for that matter) and *claim* they are junk because of isolated incidents.
It would be better off to get a shop's opinion who see alot of cars come through. A clutch choice should be paired with the intended purpose/power of the car and its usage (Drag/Track/Circuit/Endurance/DD/Grocery Getter/Asians girls in the trunk)
"Exedy twin FTMFW" might be fine and dandy for higher tq applications and the fanboys that want the newest thing (Hybrid Evo XIII FTMFW!), but its not the be-all end-all clutch and in certain applications/usages would not be the proper choice.
Note: Look at Goad_White's sig line, at his power levels the Exedy twin is a good choice.

My act is holding power fine, I just have the high RPM lock out issue. Can't shift over about 6k RPMs. Its really annoying when you're trying to run the drags. As for durability, Its done fine with a bunch of two step launches at about 400whp
JoeyB had this issue for a brief period but called ACT and they sent the technical document to him about it and whatever fix they reccomended (snake oil?) fixed it. Having raced him to the top of 4th and 5th I can tell you it didnt lock out.
