MAP Stage 2 LR 2.4L Build
. I almost flipped my work van on an overpass on the interstate. Traffic immediately merged left traveling about 70mph. I saw there were some vehicles on the narrow shoulder so I followed the rest of traffic. Before I know what was happening I was perpendicular to the semi behind me. I corrected almost had it straight and hit a patch of dry pavement. Luckily it slid through it back onto the ice and I was able to recover. 40' or so later I passed the vehicle that caused the lane merger, it was an Isuzu SUV with a crushed roof. Apparently he had just done the same dance but wast so fortunate. There were already two other motorist who had stopped and other than a pale look on his face he appeared to be unharmed.
A few weeks ago traveling through northern Alabama I noticed the north bound lane was stopped and the south bound semis were going very slowly. I advised my father in law to slow the vehicle because there was an unseen issue. Following was miles of vehicles in ditches, trailers wrapped around trucks etc. we were almost taken out by an f150 and a 3rd gen Camaro on a uhauls trailer that cane around crossing an overpass. I don't know how he saved it but it was a sight to see for sure. Odd seeing nothing through ky and tn and then hitting snow and black ice in Alabama.

No apology needed but thank you

. Thankfully you hit that dry patch or it could've been bad. Thanks man! If you ever have any questions don't hesitate to drop a PM!
I really like a functional car, which would be low end power for most, but I miss something about my 10:1 2.0L/35r setup, hence my most recent purchase.
I think the HAFE cast manifold paired with the HTA86 and the 2.4L will provide for a perfect blend of low/mid range power with a ridiculous punch up top. When it came down to it I'll be running 93 pump gas because E85 is so scarce in my area, and I knew that the Green or the IX turbo weren't quite going to cut it in terms of power potential on pump gas. Plus, this way all I have to do is get a double pumper and 2150s, and retune for 700whp on E85/98 when I want to get crazy.
That's crazy! My roomates went out with tow straps and were pulling people out all day for fun

Thanks, man. I really wish I could've got to enjoy the car more on the IX turbo on the 2.4L and S3s, but school has prevented that.

700 is no joke. Mine is an autocross car so I'm looking for power under the curve! If the Green runs out of breath, then perhaps a GTX30R or an BW S256...
I loved your videos of the IX+2.4 setup. Did you upload an S3 idle video under a new youtube account?
Green has more potential than a 30r. I just don't think the 30r are worth the cost. Be better off keeping it stock frame unless you wanted over 550-600.
I love the 35r variants. I think on a 2.4 it'll have great power down low and still offer big power up top. I was very surprised how much my car changed on the 62 from 2.0 to 2.4 with more compression.

Seeing the Greens on the 2.4 remind me of my asthmatic childhood in a relay, where I'd sprint like crazy the first 2 seconds and then pass out from lack of oxygen....That was never fun.

The car should be out here with me for the summer, so I'm debating on tuning it back home and driving it out, or having Blevins tune it when it's out here. Still need to figure that one out.
damn blue91lx I just read all of this and I am impressed and we seem to think very similar. I am also running a IX turbo on 91/e85 with full bolt ons until I can afford a larger turbo setup to go with. I cant decide between staying stock frame and going red/black/ef3/ef4 (eventually plan to go 2.1HR built block/ported head) or go with a borg warner/ fp hta/ 6262bb big boy setup. I want the best powerband between 4k-9.5k
for now I am also trying to make 400/400 on a fftecmustang dyno protune, I just need to figure out what exhaust mani/intake mani im going to go with. good luck on this new turbo setup you purchased, in for results

Green on 93:

30r on 93 with the same supporting mods/cams:

Yes, the Green ran 5# more, but it just seems that the 30r's don't perform well enough on these cars to justify the purchase, seeing as you have similar response and make a ton more power with a 35r on a .63 housing.

Also taking into consideration, I paid $1500 for an ENTIRE T3 setup with an HTA3586, ready to go....A used JB FP Black sells for that, and isn't half as reliable as the 3586, not to mention you can sell your stock frame stuff and knock half the price off the T3 kit.
For the reliability, the potential for future upgrades, and price, I don't think I'd ever put a stock frame turbo on my car.
I didn't bother tuning my car on the IX turbo. I just kept it on there for putting around while I saved up to go T3. 400/400 would be a nasty potent street setup though that's for sure!
If you do go T3 I would highly recommend getting a HAFE cast kit like I got or having someone build you a small tube header, because both will spool ~400rpms faster than a normal tubular manifold, make a boat load more torque, and won't become a restriction under 700whp or so.
For intake manifold I would highly recommend looking into Curt Brown's Extreme Ported stocker. It made 40whp more at 4500rpms than the legendary ported Skunk 2 and still made 3whp more up top on an FP Red. Just food for thought.
Good luck with your build!
